  • Silencerco adopts a unique tactic in the "we won't sell to ban states" dispute

In short Silencerco will sell to agencies/LEO in areas where civilians are not legally allowed to own suppressors only if the CLEO signs a "Statement of Benefit" that documents the benefits of suppressors for all persons, not just LE.

    Our policy is as follows:

For any LE agency purchase, REGARDLESS of geographic location or the state laws regarding NFA transfers to civilians, we require a "Statement of Benefit" document signed by the Chief Law Enforcement official in the requesting jurisdiction. This statement reinforces the reasons that silencers are beneficial for ALL user groups, including civilians. These statements are then filed and can be used at our prerogative to assist in our lobbying efforts to legalize civilian silencer ownership and hunting with silencers where they are prohibited by state law.

Silencerco/SWR's goal is to promote the use and ownership of silencers for civilians, Law Enforcement and Military. We do not support agencies whose administrations do not support the rights of the people to own these important personal protection devices.

Quite simply, agencies who wont sign the statement of benefit and thereby assist our efforts to promote silencer ownership and usage, will not be sold or supported by us.

I think we'll see manufacturers of firearms and related items, moving to states that are more "appreciative" of their products...and tax revenue they create.

In theory, any weapons that are built in Texas and bought in Texas aren't interstate commerce.

I am a fan of Texas being a fiefdom of all things firearms related.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

                    Good luck with that argument.

Interstate commerce was designed to keep states from placing tariffs on each other. As the Constitution is written, it wouldn't fall under the clause. Then again, the constitution has been very bastardized through judicial review, also unconstitutional, and case law. Wickard v Filburn was complete bs because it pretty much said "Yes, but because you're not engaging in interstate commerce, you're preventing someone from selling that good to you so you're still engaging in it."

Absolute horse hockey. Racr gets upset that I actually go by the words of the document, not the SC rulings that are overwritten and replaced and contradictory.

It was just an attempt at sarcasm without smilies...
However, technically, they do just suppress sound, not silence, correct?
