Fair enough. Now ask me if I give a fuck. What does what I've said in this thread have anything to do with me having served or not? We, as people, have a right to say almost anything we please. Just because you're offended by it doesn't give you any recourse against those things.

You're the one who asked him if he served, so apparently you do give a fuck.

I was going to take the conversation a different direction had he said no.

Where did you see me state I was offended by your stupidity? The fact that you haven't served plays a vital role in your understanding of how wrong 50 cent's actions were. You can not use the '' I come from a military family'' line and use that as a basis for understanding the thought process of those that have served. You will never understand.

As for your freedom of speech, sure that is a right granted to you by the constitution. Regardless of your right to say it or not has no bearing on the validity of the statement or if it correct or not.

The debate here is if 50 cents actions were unlawful. They were per the statutes that Frost posted. You can scream till you are blue in the face that Stolen Valor was ruled unconstitutional ... But that has no bearing here. Not once did I see a story where 50 claimed that the medals were his and he had earned them, so please tell me how Stolen Valor even enters into the equation?

You don't like that he's wearing it. Get over it. I don't have to understand where you're coming from. And frankly, anyone with a brain doesn't really give a shit.

You guys are the one pissed off because someone is wearing something. Legally there's nothing you can do about it for various reasons. Are we going to institute some clothes police now?

Yes, they are unlawful according to the statutes that Frost brought up, but they're a toothless tiger. Legal precedence would take effect and the person would be absolved of all charges.

You didn't read the thread. You got down to the part where I said I didn't serve and skipped right to the end. If you have the capability of reading, you'll see that I didn't bring up stolen valor, DallasSleeper did. 50 also didn't have to claim that he received the medals, according to Stolen Valor merely the possession of ribbons and medals themselves was enough to warrant a violation, as you would be a person who: "purchases, attempts to purchase, solicits for purchase, mails, ships, imports, exports, produces blank certificates of receipt for, manufactures, sells, attempts to sell, advertises for sale, trades, barters, or exchanges for anything of value"

You need to learn more about the subject matter.

Frankly, I don't give a shit what some retarded pretend thug wears. I think it shows a massive disrespect for the men and women that earned the right to put that uniform on ... But it doesn't bother me. All it proves to me is the further degradation of values in this hell bound society.

Again, legally there is something that can be done. The fact that nothing will be done is another matter. If you want my honest opinion regarding legal action of any kind ... I don't think it should be done. I think we are over regulated and policed as of now. Why would I support more action? Much like everyone that was calling for that liberal anti-gun reporters arrest, I thought it set a dangerous precedent.

I think you just contradicted yourself here ..... Yep, sure did.

I did read it, just chose to take the conversation in this direction. Thanks for taking the bait.

I don't have to learn anymore about the subject because I don't care. I don't agree with the Stolen Valor law anyhow, it was nothing more than pandering to a special interest group (Vets)

Since the beginning of time men have been lying about accomplishments in battle, why should that stop? It is wrong, but should never be illegal. I want to see the Gov's power shrink, not grow.

                  • My whole point was brain freeze defending and using a law that is CLEARLY unconstitutional just because of the subject matter.

Yeah.....you are not wearing a vest with the rockers. Not the same.

That is like wearing a tshirt with USMC on it.

Let me ask you this. Lets say you were going to do some contract work on a house, the person verbally tells you that they're going to pay you 10k to paint the fence and the trim outside the house, but when you go to sign the contract not only do they only want to pay you 8k, but they also want you to paint the entire inside of the home. Would you sign the contract knowing you're getting fucked, or would you walk? Keep in mind, negotiations are over at this point and you have both agreed on a price and job.
