As a marine myself, I don't like that he has, in my opinion, defaced that uniform by merely donning it. However, until he starts stating, or behaving in a way that implies, that he served, I don't see any problem with this that warrants violence or incarceration.
Has he served? No. Has he earned the right to wear the uniform? No. Does he deserve to be beaten or imprisoned because of the clothes he wears, when there is no indication that there is an attempt to deceive or defraud someone? I can't see a justification for it.
Like or dislike his choice of attire as you will, but calls to violence or imprisonment for that choice seems a bit excessive to me. We don't get to force others to act in a way that we feel is respectful to something just because we are proud of it.Scientists do not coddle ideas. They crash test them. They run them into a brick wall at 60 miles per hour and then examine the pieces.
If the idea is sound, the pieces will be that of the wall.

But you did just educate me on something, I thought it was ruled that the Stolen Valor act was reduced to a misdemeanor if a person profited from the wear of a military uniform and/ or decorations. Thank you for setting me straight.

Did you ever serve in the military?Originally posted by racrguy View PostI come from a military family, and was set to ship to MCRD San Diego until I read my contract before signing and saw that my recruiter lied to me and was trying to send me open contract. As in, sitting inside MEPS, leaving that day.

So you ask who fucking cares...........every single Marine I have ever served with cares. Every Marine I have ever known cares. Every Marine that has watched their buddies get torn to shreds in combat cares.
This is not something we are flexible on. We do not bend our traditions to please civvies. If you have not stood on the yellow foot prints and you have not been hardened thru blood, sweat, and tears......dont wear it.
