Cliffnotes: Her husband went to war in WW2 and never returned. State Department said they had no idea what happened to him for 60 years. Kept bugging senators to find him and in 05 her senator said that he was still MIA. Family member tracked down the original records and found he was KIA and interned at the cemetery in Normandy. She never remarried, never dated as "He stayed married to me his whole life, so I will stay married to him for mine."

Rep apologized for "mishandling" her request for information and not looking it up. The town where he was originally buried named a street after the husband and kept his grave covered with flowers knee deep and celebrate him every year. His grave is also covered in flowers 10 times a year from the wife.

That is a great ending for her! Too bad her jackass congressman just flat out lied to her about checking it out. Too bad most Americans can't show our own troops as much gratitude as the French in that town do.

Well, correct me if I am wrong, but if he was never declared dead........did she keep her benefits and continue getting a pay check every month ? How does that work ?

Well, I would assume if you're MIA your spouse doesn't get death benefits.
