Yea, perhaps so.. But think about it for a sec. He has been a huge critic of the war and the politics that got us into the war and keep us there. However, has he ever once been critical of an individual soldier? I might be wrong on this but I don't think he has.

All that said, at the very least, it was a pretty insensitive thing to say. It was also pretty ignorant when considering how they are treating guys for PSTD.

I totally agree. However, like every soldier, he just went where he was told. We never get a choice in the matter.

If you guys dont understand that giving a loaded gun to someone who is being treated for PTSD or "unstable" might go wrong, you are an idiot. You dont give drugs to a drug addict or a razor blade to a cutter. This is simply a risk that must have crossed Kyle's mind.

You're comparing those of us with PTSD to cutters or drug addicts? Do explain kemosabe. For many of us, using our weapons is calming and is a form of therapy. Behind a rifle permits someone trained with it for years to turn off a very fast, very loud mind and just let your body perform muscle memory. It's the same reason I tear apart my M4 when I'm stressed. I can just turn off my mind and let my hands work. It's incredibly ignorant to believe that handing someone trained with it for years and who has actually slept with that weapon is going to make them dangerous.

Paul pretty much said that those of us who served deserve to die because we fought with weapons, we deserve to die by them. Fuck Paul. Kyle understood that a soldier with a weapon feels safe. That weapon is part of us as much as a hand or a leg. When we get out of the service we're disarmed. When we're rated with PTSD we're treated as paraiahs. Fuck that. Kyle was helping his brother get better. The fact that his brother snapped and killed him is a different story.

Come on man... When ex-soldier do bad shit they always blame PTSD. Im not saying that everyone that suffers from PTSD will do something bad with a gun but there is a possibility. This is the same damn thing as cutters. They wont always do something but there is a chance they might. People who have killed before (war or not) may do it again when presented the opportunity. At least you're thinking logically. With todays legal system you have to treat shit like this very carefully. At the risk of sounding like an asshole...get a grip. You're not the only soldier with PTSD and I'm sure that there are mixed emotions among those that do.

Which are an incredible minority of soldiers with PTSD that do not react badly. I have access to quite a bit of equipment and you don't see me on CNN shooting up towers. PTSD augments parts of your personality and you modify it with a TBI and you get some interesting combinations however, the blanket statement that those of us with PTSD are dangerous and shouldn't have weapons?
