What about families who cannot afford insurance? Is the government going to pay for it are they just going to fine them?

In typical government fashion, just a fine. No actual solution. Then, when it can't be paid, the IRS will go after them. They'll then make the people feel like they got off easy by not going to jail, and just having all their possessions of any value taken to pay the "bill".

Okay, Obamacare confuses the hell out of me. Mainly cause I thought it was ridiculous and would never happen. What's the difference between it and just buying your own or what we all have generally been doing for quite awhile?

Insurers can not turn anyone away regardless of pre-existing conditions. It also mandates that children may be covered under their parent(s) policy until age 26.
