One can just talk but not do it. The other has the power to back up their talk.
So if you have the power to change something, you automatically cant have your own opinion?

If you're speaking while a Prime Minister? No, you can't. Anything you say is a reflection of the government you run. It's one of those things about holding an office.

I now see why you hate anyone with official responsibility: You are unable to differentiate intention from opinion.

If you say something about killing off old people, while you're the head of a country, I hate to tell you this, it's going to be seen as the official line. You can backtrack later but when you're talking about how much a drain old people are, and are the PM, it's FAR different than if a citizen says it. One has the authority to back up his statement, the other doesn't.

I can't break it down any more Barney than that. For instance, in my position as a state board member, if I'm speaking while wearing my name tag identifying myself as an official about something under our purview, it's viewed as the view of the board otherwise I'd keep my yap shut.

He never said he wanted to kill them off, he said that tube fed people dont have a quality of life; and therefore the government shouldnt have to pay for them to be kept alive.

I assume that you dont see any grey area, and a DNR is suicide or murder, depending on what side of the table you are on?

No, a DNR is a personal choice. I'm also all for doctor assisted suicide. You really should read some of my papers.

As far as this being his opinion, what's wrong with that? Is he not allowed to have an opinion(even an unpopular one)? As long as he lives(dies?) up to his word to refuse his own end of life care, then I don't see the issue.
Are you joking? He is in power to use his opinion to influence the laws of the country. Just like 0bama had the opinion that healthcare should be mandatory, that firearms needed more control, that current energy production needs to be replaced with "green" energy, that the EPA needs more power, that taxes should be increased and that spending should be increased.

Here is the definition of "death panel":
A supposed government committee responsible for choosing which patients receive healthcare, ostensibly withholding life-saving treatment from the some, in order to reduce costs.
If you cannot see the resemblance then you are daft...

I dont think the government should dictate when we should die or how long we should be able to live.

That said, I do think that our leaders should voice their candid opinions openly, so that we dont elect the ones that we dont want that opinion influencing. Anyone disagree?

                    I totally agree with you.
