I know at least 5 Marines that wouldn't have a problem confiscating weapons. One of them was from Chicago and said at work that he doesn't think anyone but police and military should have guns. Said there was nothing he couldn't handle with a baseball bat.

Another said he thought Americans had too many freedoms. I almost punched him in the face but we were at work and resort to yelling at him about his oath and how saying something like that was a violation of the same.

Tell that sorry excuse for a Marine, "Dont bring a baseball bat to a gun fight." His views obviously don't run with the oath he took to uphold the U.S. Constitution.

Then again, he is from Chicago, home of the victim. No wonder he joined the military, he didnt want to be one any longer.

I will tell you that of all the local, county and state peace officers I know, myself included, will not cooperate with any federal firearm registration/confiscation program.

The majority of military personnel I know feel the same.

But will you arrest a prohibited person whom you find is possession of a firearm such as a felon or someone under a restraining order? What if the class of prohibited persons keeps getting larger?

The same federal power grab (68 GCA) that they promised would end all gun crime was sold to the public by telling the public that it would only apply to criminals. That SAME law is the law that they will use to make every citizen a prohibited person. If you support any part of it you are just as guilty as if you support all of it.

The progressives think long term and this is just a case of heating the water slowly to keep the frog in the pot.

Restraining orders mean squat. If you're talking about a protective order then yes, I would enforce it. It is a "shall" arrest.

As it stands right now, in Texas, I'm ok with the firearm laws. I still think NFA items should go away. Meaning I think it's stupid to be required to pay $200 to be allowed to own an SBR or suppressor.

Most states completely restore a person rights after they complete the term of their sentence; thus giving a felon the right to own a firearm again. That just isn't the case in TX; but that doesn't have anything to do with the point that I was making.

For the first 192 years of our countries existence there was not a class of prohibited persons when it comes to possession of firearms. The American people were tricked into giving the federal government control of our access to firearms in 1968 with the promise from the Feds that they would never interfere with anyone other then the listed prohibited persons in the law. What the American people never imagined is that the class would be expanded eventually to include everyone. The anti gun crowd in 1968 planned to use the GCA to completely eliminate ALL private firearm ownership in the USA by the mid 80's. The kick back from the NRA a short time after the GCA passed (which the NRA backed in the first place) was never anticipated by the antis and the fight has been on ever since.

The GCA has been the law of the land for all of my life and I'd guess all of yours as well but that doesn't make it right even if you have been brain washed into believing that some citizens should be treated differently when it comes to firearms ownership. Free your mind and realize that you have been lied to by the government.

I understand where you stand on that TODAY but what about in the future when we all get labeled convicted felon?

So my whole life I have always tried to do the right thing for many reasons. One reason being, I like to keep all my Rights. I have always understood that Felons are those that loose some of theirs; like the Right to keep and bare arms. Now it looks as if living the life of a law abiding citizen I may end up a Felon if I disobey our government as they try to strip that Right from me when I have not done anything wrong. I guess this will be the Government's way of making US taste the medicine Felon's taste every day. But where is the fairness in that? I still haven't done anything wrong.

Sorry if I sound a little skeptical. You enforce federal laws now. If you caught some one with a M-16 (not AR-15) without a class III license you would arrest them. Show me in 2A where it discriminates against any weapon please. You know, the constitution, the thing you swear an oath to.

If the feds re-classified all semi-auto's as class III you would do the same as your doing now. Violating your oath. So you can keep on getting your pay check.

Not trying to argue, but there is state law prohibiting "machine guns". See PC 46.02.

Technically we don't enforce the Federal law. I've referred cases to the feds so they can prosecute for weapons violations. Before you get up in arms, haha, about it, the guy was a dope dealer and shot a guy seven times in a parking lot over a traffic accident. He had an illegal (non NFA) short barrel shotgun and all kinds of dope in his apartment. When we arrested him he had a stolen 9mm (from Houston) on his person.

As far as I know the State never brought charges against him. He did get 10 years fed.

The bottom line is I truly believe if it comes down to "door to door" confiscation the majority of LEO will not participate. In the grand scheme of things we will be labeled as "felons" right along with our neighbors. I don't know one of my co-workers that doesn't own an AR.

Ah, but they make exceptions for cops for some damned reason. Cops won't be felons, can't get felon cops to arrest citizens so it just won't apply to them. They're also the same group that throws a fit when they have to follow laws that apply to citizens such as speeding, magazine regulations and those pesky warrant laws.

I could possibly see that for our "duty" weapons. But I can't see them giving a pass for our personal weapons.

But I'm sure you are right. We are an elite class. Leave it to Frost to take a stab at LEO when everyone of us in this thread are saying we are with the People.
