At this point the opinions of the founding fathers are irrelevant. When the new gun legislation is passed all the opinions that will matter belong to the 9 Judges - several whom have been appointed by Obama.

Also keep in mind that the first shots of the Revolutionary war were over an attempt to confiscate guns.

And also don’t forget that this term will see two new judges...perhaps better to wait until then for him to attempt? Not sure but either way, the conscious is that something is going to happen.
