Actually, I haven't posted up a thread about cops in quite a while. Been busy. When a cop is off duty and entering a restaurant that does not permit firearms, he should be a big boy, realize it applies to him as well, take off his gun and put it in his car. Afterall, that's what the rest of us have to do. Or are you okay with me walking around with my SAW strapped around my back when I'm off duty? I mean, I can be recalled at any time and vacations can and have been cut short by a unit preparing to mobilize. Since that's the case, those rules shouldn't apply to me either should they? I guarantee you my training and the training of every Marine, Sailor, Chair Force and Soldier on here surpasses those of cops. So you should trust us right?

Don't thank me. I did a job. Refute what I'm saying. Cops are not special. They threw a fit because they were asked to leave. Any citizen does that, they get escorted out. Where is it that an owner cannot ask a police officer to leave their establishment? I've admitted I was wrong before and will again if I am.

You get lunch on duty. Cool. Station one man outside of the resteraunt that doesn't want guns inside, with the weapons (we do weapons trees) and you go in, eat and leave. Obey the signs.
    Sorry, Frost.

Once again, 30.06 does not apply to LEO, on or off duty. It only applies to CHL holders. I'm not sure how to explain that any better. I conceal carry when I am off duty. If I "print" and someone notices it and asks me to leave, so be it. I will gladly leave. Not because of 30.06. Because they have a right to refuse me service.

I guess I fail to make the connection of an non active duty service member rolling around with a SAW as it relates to an off duty officer carrying a pistol. But be my guest. It should make for a great conversation piece at Chucky Cheese. Are you trying to say that the armed forces should play a police role in America? That's the only thing I get from your comparison. Martial law. I was unaware that's what you wanted. Good to know.

You make some pretty bold statements with "I guarantee you my training and the training of every Marine, Sailor, Chair Force and Soldier on here surpasses those of cops."

I love blanket statements. They work so well in arguments. What happens when the cop is former military? Does he forget all the kick ass shit he was taught in basic? Or does he just revert to pulling that one round out of his shirt pocket when the need arises? I can't speak for all departments, and I will admit I get a little more training and trigger time than the majority of my coworkers, but it is better than it used to be.

I have several coworkers that were military. Most talk about all the busted ass equipment they had to work with. Which is a shame, honestly.

But to directly answer your question about trusting you with a SAW in public. No. You are a trained killer, with no off switch. I am pretty sure that was your statement in a thread. I'll take Barney Fife with his six shooter and ability to have a rational thought process. Of course this last paragraph is sarcasm....

I get you guys' point of contention with Frost, but I don't think you're picking up what he's putting down. He's advocating that cops get no special treatment.

I think a cop should be allowed to carry their gun anywhere they want, and I feel the same way about any citizen. I don't think they should need to be concealed, either.

            And this

Cops are people too and just as capable of committing any crime a civilian can...because we are all civilians in the end...

WTF makes a LEO so special considering they are same as you and I?

Right now I bet LEO's read this and think "ha, come at me with that BS and I will show you how we are different".

Ideally this is the case, but we're a long way off from it being the reality.

No I'm thinking that cops are granted certain powers by the State. In this instance Frost is absolutely 100% wrong, according to the law. I'm all for open carry. Seriously, I don't think you'll find a stronger proponent for an armed society than me.

But his whole argument is the police should be subject to the same laws everyone else. In Texas this is the case. Please for the love of god read PC 30.06 and Texas Government Code 411 sub chapter H.

Where does the law state that an owner cannot ask a cop to leave?

Actually, I'm saying if you're asked to leave, leave. I'm also saying military training is far more intensive than police and we're not allowed to open or concealed carry anywhere that a CHL holder isn't. I'm not saying martial law, I'm saying laws are there for a reason.

If the cop is former military, then he stays on his skill set and training. How is this hard? As far as I'm aware, cops don't do MOUNT training and aren't required to protect you at all. If they fail to protect you, then you have no recourse against them. They kill your pet in your house? Tough. Chainsaw through your door because they got the numbers wrong? Sorry. Kill your pet and prone you on the ground in it's blood? Sorry.

It's a sad thing that Iraqi's are more protected from military than we are from cops. A cop lies on the stand? Oh well. Falsifies evidence? No big deal. Kills you in your home because of a wrong address? A couple days off with pay. We shoot one person in Iraq wrongly or in the right? Massive payouts to the entire village.

Holy shit. Racr gets it while no one else does. THis. They aren't special snowflakes, they need bound by the same laws, same penalties if not more harsh penalties as the citizens they police. If a business owner asks them to leave because he doesn't want the guns there, they should apologize, stand up, pay their bill and leave. Not do a press release and fucking bitch.

Can you not read? How many times have I said if they ask me to leave I will leave?

All this time I thought it was MOUT. MOUNT training brings a whole new meaning I suppose. So urban combat? Nope, we get no training whatsoever in urban environments. Strange that we work in cities. If you mean entering and clearing houses then yes.

Regarding the former military guys being LEO, I was just using your irrational blanket statement against you. I've seen plenty of self proclaimed "bad ass" military guys that can't shoot worth a shit. Once again your statement doesn't hold water.

As they should get no special treatment, they should still be treated within the confines of the law, which allows them to display their weapons if positively identified (which displaying their badge does).

Frost, you'd be the first to get on your soap box if you got kicked out of Denny's for wearing camo. It wasn't illegal, but the manager just didn't like militia-looking people in the place.

                          See what I did there?

I'd bitch but you'd not see me releasing a press release. I'd bitch to yall. I'd also not be displaying my firearm as that would be...what's that word when a citizen does it....illegal.

What MOUNT training do you get Jamison? I know SWAT does as I've dealt with some of them but joe on the street? Fuck, some of you bastards can't get out of the car without huffing. I'd like to see Dallas' finest actually go through a tape test. My statement isn't irrational. Military training is more intensive and more actively reinforced that law enforcement. Why? We use ours daily. How often do you get called to clear a building? Or get into a firefight? No, most cops are revenue generators and paper pushers.

And you're disputing my assertion that cops have no obligation to protect us? Would you like the Supreme Court case?

Frost, get back on your meds. You've seriously been losing it lately. The military might use their training daily in an active war zone, but a majority of the troops are not in an active war zone.
