I have, but it's just down the road from me. The neighbor didn't actually stop a, "killing spree." The cops already more or less had the murderer cornered in his front yard, they just couldn't get closer to him, because he was holding them off with a rifle. The neighbor just had a good angle on the murderer, and the murderer wasn't aware the neighbor was there.

Cliff's notes: Try not to start a gun fight in a trailer park.

Not really sure why they've got the article dated like that, it happened quite some time ago(months).

Maybe the 165 was supposed to be feet? Thats a hell of a shot if not.

That's the only reason I posted it.

              Still never heard about this.

Really not that difficult with a Model 29, which is what the neighbor used.

It's been years, but from my experience, a 240gr .44 mag slug out of a 6" model 29, falls about 4" at 100 yards (depending on windage and ambient temperature). I was shooting off of a sand bag rest. I'm thinking at 165 yards, it drops a lot more than that.

Well then from your estimate, it would have dropped about 6-8 inches so if he was aiming for mid mass then thigh shot is possible

                      That's nuts

I'm thinking that the 50ish yard range is realistic... I dunno if I'd be able to make out a 2-man gun fight from almost 200yds, let alone try to shoot they guy with a pistol from that distance.

Your thinking is correct. Even 50 yds Is pretty damn good shot with a pistol.....and then do it a couple more times.
