You notice they didn't even mention cutting anything. Unlimited increase in debt, more taxes, no cuts

IMO they (both parties) are going about this wrong. Republicans should, if anything, be sticking to their no tax increase plan as hard as ever. They should bring to the table a deal to match a cut back in entitlement spending with a 1 for 1 cut back by percentage in military spending. Make the deal even more sweet by offering up immigration reform within the next four years. If that is a no go then let the so called "fiscal cliff" happen. At least the spending will slow down and cuts will take place.

Except for the fact that defense spending is a requirement while welfare isn't. I'd offer a 10% across the board reduction and fold my arms and let the dems try to explain why they are against tax reductions for the poor and middle class

Not penny of the Pentagon's budget is up for cuts? Watch them in the next few weeks throw us under the bus and sign a tax increase deal. McCain is busy fucking around with military benefits while Boehner is getting a tan at the country club and pretending to cry about it all in public. They will be protecting their sacred cow at any expense... The GOP leadership need to get busy coming up with a real/legit plan on their side to make due with what money they have. Don't kid yourself. Both sides will be just fine with the tax hikes, the democrats are just in a better position to not have to make the first move on slashing their pet projects at the end of the day.

Some stats about the US government:

            U.S. Tax revenue: $2,170,000,000,000

Now, remove 8 zeroes and pretend it’s a household budget:

            Money the family spent: $38,200
New debt on the credit card: $16,500

You haven't seen the cost increases for vets have you regardless of the cliff. Increase in enrollment fees for Tricare, Tricare Prime ending for anyone not within 40 miles of a base, increase in prescription fees, increase in monthly fees, reduction in available doctors. And that's just Tricare.

No, not a penny in defense until EVERYTHING not expressly mentioned in the Constitution is cut
