You have a government full of Democrats that looked at the wealthy in the city and said "This is Detroit, the wealthy aren't going anywhere, let's get more money." So they upped taxes and spending over and over until there was a massive debt. Then the housing market busted and instead of cutting, they kept on spending. I understand it, I kind of look at it as Somalia.

And if you're a Christian there or Dearborn? Leave. They'll stone you to death.

Detroit was long dying before the housing bust.

Oh I know. They thought that the car bubble would last forever and that the UAW and GM and Chrysler and Ford would own the market forever. So they taxed and spent accordingly
