Check yo'self, son! There's no chip on my shoulder. I just rolled in here and gave Gunny props on what he said, play by play. Then you rushed in with "Nuh uhhh. Can't prove it, I'm making mad bank with my amway telemarketing buddies, yo! The rest of the country don't concern me!"

Define socialism, illustrate proof that this administration isn't pushing for it or concede.

Define socialism, illustrate proof that this administration isn't pushing for it or concede.
What the talking heads are saying and what you decided to sop up like mama's chicken soup is a return to Keynesian economic policies which at it's base philosophy is active government involvement in the economy from regulation to priming the pump.

Socialism is a suggestion getting rid of capitalism all together and the current administration is no where close to this. What's hilarious is the true socialists in this country won't even accept Obama is a socialist.

The purchases at AIG, GM, Chrysler and others were to stop an even bigger economic demise which would have taken out much more than just those companies. The government's current is monitoring those investments and making an orderly exit and the fact is they are making money doing it. Doesn't sound too socialist to me and much more of a capitalist bent.

The taking over of companies which were in such poor shape they had the ability to collapse the entire economy isn't socialism. Socialism is taking a profitable company and saying... it would be the government could do a better job of it let's nationalize it. In every instance the investment was made in such a way the government had a logical exit and those exits are starting to occur in a little over 2 years which is an instance in terms of the economy.

Simplistic explanation of socialism in economic terms but I know you like small words and no figures. If I had time I'd draw you pictures.

Is there some redistribution going on? Absolutely. Unemployment, the restructuring of the student loan business, potential higher taxes for the rich... but we're talking fringes and no mainstream redistribution.

Same goes for FDR who was the last President to wear the socialist label. In hindsight most historians agree he wasn't a socialist and his "socialist" policies in fact saved capitalism.

But keep listening to the talking heads. As they continue to talk to you you will notice Obama's approval rating went over 50% again and if you look at his rating compared to Reagan they are tracking almost lockstep. 2012 may not be the year the Tea Baggers are looking forward to if the economy continues to improve (which historically happens in the 3 year of a Presidency.)

Fringes? Isn't healthcare 1/6th of the nation's economy?

You must be outside yo' mind to think that this admin isn't working towards socializing the country's businesses so that they control them. These fucksticks have been at it for a 100 years and finally had their big chance.

Better not get too successful...ya might go solvent and have big gov't take over your business, tell you who to hire and fire, dictate pay, etc...just like a good little capitalist gov't would, right?

Again, you are not providing any substance to your opinion. You are using opinion ("if you think this administration isn't socializing...") to prove your opinion. Makes for some great bar talk but that is about it. You argue like Paladin did on the other site. I'm right and I don't care if I can back it up, I'm right.

My arguments contain proper definition based on historical fact. Your arguments on based on opinion and personal attack because you realize you don't have the brain power to understand anything that isn't told to you.

It's ok. It's your bubble and you can live it as you see fit. The boys at Fox News love it.

If you think what you got in healthcare reform is socialized medicine I can see that your ignorance has taken over any ability to see past your own deficiencies in understanding and the ability to assimilate reality. Sort of like the regular bar stool keeper after a couple of beers.

The fact that our government will penalize you for NOT having health insurance, is in itself, socialistic. Not to mention, you, nor anyone else, even knows what's in the Obama-care bill.

Socialized health insurance is a tad different than socialized medicine.

We are no where close to socialized medicine in this country.

As a trader and not investor I hope to be right 60% of the time. That is all that is required to produce a very good income stream.

                Good. Day. Sir.

Semantics? It's baby steps, but it's coming. Hopefully, the congress just sworn in can nullify/adjust/defund the current healthcare laws.

Again, I hear about the "it's coming". Obama is center left at best. Even liberals won't own him.

VETTKLR, I fail to realize the "you fail" because I suggest as a trader who trades probabilities (which I do with about 20% of my portfolio). Any trader who has been in the business for any length of time would ecstatic with a 60% win rate.

Winning 100% trading equities isn't possible. Hell I know people who fail trading 50% of the time and because they balance risk wonderfully they made a decent 6 figure income.

Yup, on 09-17-2008, I did have the feeling we were heading towards socialism. I was wrong and I'm not afraid to admit it. Since then I've read tons and educated myself how deep the crisis really was and realized it was the best attempt to keep capitalism running. What's the point?

Here is a little quiz for the right wingnuts on the board. It is one of those matching games you did in 3rd grade so I'm sure you'll be able to keep up. Match the numbered item with the lettered item.

S&P 500 performance after 2 years of the first term.

                              1. IKE
                              2. JFK
                              3. LBJ
                              4. Nixon
                              5. Carter
                              6. Reagan
                              7. Bush41
                              8. Clinton
                              9. Bush43
                              10. Obama

                              A. 38%
                              B. -34%
                              C. -7%
                              D. 15%
                              E. 6%
                              F. -10%
                              G. 48%
                              H. -7%
                              I. 5%
                              J. 6%

2011 has all the makings of a really good economic period. Tea baggers better watch out... after Clinton's mid-term spanking he rebounded very nicely in the third year with a 34% increase in the S&P 500 which led the expansion couldn't be beat by Dole/Kemp.

Oh yea, not since 1955 has the S&P 500 had a down year in the third year of a first term President.

Gotta love the way the game is played!

Intrade has a Dem President in 2012 at 56%. Create an account put some money in it and short it! Make some money!

Center Left at best?!? his voting record in the senate was so far to the left, he was #2 on the left side/liberal/progressive...whatever you want to mask socialism as. Any idea who was #1 on the left??? His comrade, Joe Biden!

I swear to God that if you Ron Paul squirrels were a large group, you'd be the fucking death of conservatism, by whitewashing obama's admin with your blind hatred of anybody with an 'R' in their title doesn't swing off of RP's nuts like the rest of you do.
