Seems like everyone is laughing....at us, which we all already know....it just seems more severe when you get confirmation of it:

BAGHDAD (AP) -- A Hezbollah commander wanted by the United States has been released from Iraqi custody and returned to the Lebanese capital on Friday, his lawyer said. The move is likely to complicate the Obama administration's efforts to prosecute the militant believed to have been the mastermind of an attack that killed five U.S. soldiers.

The release of Lebanese-born Ali Mussa Daqduq also underscored how little influence Washington holds over Baghdad's government since American troops left the country last December.

U.S. forces held Daqduq for four years, accusing him of masterminding a 2007 raid on an American military base in the Iraqi holy Shiite city of Karbala that killed five U.S. soldiers. He was handed over to Iraqi authorities when American troops left Iraq.

Two Iraqi courts, including the country's central criminal court in July, subsequently found Daqduq not guilty of the Karbala attack. However, he was held under house arrest in the heavily fortified Green Zone in central Baghdad.

Daqduq's lawyer, Abdul-Mahdi al-Mitairi, said Iraqi authorities decided to free the Hezbollah militant once U.S. elections were over. It appeared Iraqi officials did not want to embarrass President Barack Obama during his reelection campaign.

"He was supposed to be released once the court found him not guilty but because of the U.S. presidential elections, he was kept under house arrest," al-Mitairi said in a telephone interview with The Associated Press.

"If Daqduq remained longer (in custody in Iraq), I would have sued the government," the lawyer added.

There was no immediate comment from the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. The Iraqi government spokesman said he had no comment.
Lets get our guys out of there and back home. We dont need to be over there especially if they do not want our help. Its like the kid that always calls when they need something but as soon as they get it no more phone calls...

A similar tactic using terrorism worked in Spain a few years back to get a socialist prime minister elected.

Of course they wanted Obama to get reelected. Every last one of them knows he doesn't have the fucking balls to stand up to them.

I guess I get frustrated by the idea that only a select few people in this country see this happening?

How can I be proud of Americans if they are so damn stupid to see that the world is almost "setting us up"...

Note: I am very proud to be American and I know there are others that stand alongside proud Americans. I am merely stating that there is also a majority of the American population that apparently, are idiots and would let someone take advantage of their own grandmother...

No, there are plenty of people who aren't proud to be Americans. There are also plenty of people who won't care about politics until the checks get smaller.

I really don't know what it even means to be an American any more. I associate myself with the original ideas set forth during and immediately after the Revolution, but the actual country I live in doesn't seem to really align with those values at this point. Who knows, maybe I'm just being too idealistic about things. At any rate I've never been more frustrated with this country in my life. I should probably try and avoid politics for a few years.

Despair, hopelessness, powerless to effect change... All valid emotions, as we are all well and truly fucked. Half the country is just too damned stupid to realize it.

                    Could not agree more...

At times, and flame me if you want, but its almost as if I wish someone would come over and wipe these idiots out or take them back with them or something. I feel that if we were invaded (very far fetched....today) that the Americans that hold true to the values and ethics in which this country was founded upon would survive an attack for the most part. We are the ones fighting back right now looking for outlets to express our disdain for our POTUS...

But then again, I try to not get too caught up in my own emotion as I understand that ultimately, until an invasion, we are fucked

I feel exactly the same way, but things are deteriorating at such a fast pace I dont think we can avoid anything.

I agree. From the first time I read our constitution, I was thankful and proud to be lucky enough to be a part of this country.
Heck, I always thought being idealistic about individuality, freedom, and personal responsibility was exactly the point of this society.
