    I wonder what it would be like if this did happen though... would Texas be better off?

    do we as a state make enough month to support our own?

                              There are a few holes in this idea, regarding Texas's current overall tax burden. First and foremost is the issue of defense. We don't currently have a way to fund the amount of defense we would require in Texas. I can't see us getting a reasonable military put together out of the money we'd make off the difference in what we contribute vs. what we receive, tax wise.
