i think that is how it'd go down if they did it in one fell swoop, but they wouldn't, they will/would do it slowly enough to prevent everyone jumping up at once saying "enough". just as they've done with our civil liberties up until now. i'm willing to be pre-9/11 if you just dropped TSA, homeland, SOPA, NSA, NDAA, etc. etc. on the American people there would have been an uprising. do it over 10+ years and folks don't seem to notice.

and frost, if you want to get into a pissing match about how you have more technology, weaponry, strategy, man power, etc. then the US government has, i am sorry, but that is not an argument worthy of my time. trust me, i do believe you would fight vs. give up your guns, as i believe many on here would, but i don't believe this site is representative of the majority of this country. if they played their cards right, slowly convincing all the libs that guns are bad, and put a 10yr minimum sentence + a quarter of a million dollar fine for being in possession of a firearm, offered some incentive to "see something, say something" in the form of 5k if you turn someone in, i think a lot of folks would turn them over.

i'll reiterate my earlier point, hopefully i am wrong, hopefully this is all horse shit and even if it did come to fruition, we'd all band together and take down heli's, tanks, drones, etc. together.

Guns? what guns, no guns here. Guns kill, I hate guns. But, I really like ammo.
Don't worry about what you can't change.
Do the best you can with what you have.
Be honest, even if it hurts.

No, you said Americans versus Marines. You mentioned super tech and nifty weapons and body armor. I didn't say I have more, I said we haven't had new weapons since Vietnam. Back up your claims.

Are you serious? Not 1 new weapon since the 70's? You sure about that?

Let's see. The M4 is basically the M16, just shortened. Vietnam. The 203 is based off the M79. Vietnam. We have Mossberg 500's and Remington shotguns but they aren't different than civilian ones. There is the Mk 19 but that again is an automatic 203 that breaks down constantly which still puts it in the Vietnam era weapons. Navy has a railgun but that's requiring a ship to hold so I'm not counting that as last I heard it's still a prototype.

What do you think we have that is new? We tried to get Dragonskin but that was defective so we've fallen back to stuffing thick plates of ceramic into fabric body armor. That's not cutting edge. Our NVG's are horrific and cause more issues than they help.

I want to hear about these super tech weapons and body armor. I want to hear how Americans can't beat Marines because of said tech.

                Tow: Vietnam era
240B and other variations: Slightly lighter M60: Vietnam
SAW is a variant of the MG42: WW2
Bayonets: Yeah, sharp pointy thing on the end of a stick

                I can keep going

welll lets see here, there weaponry would be much more advanced. Either way I figure it it happens they will brand the militias domestic terrorist and our own people would fight them. Some of you guys are giving these people to much credit and said the same thing about obama being reelected. Its just like anything its not hard to lead the sheeple in the right direction if you tell them the right thing. Fighting "domestic terrorist" is no different.

How would our military's weapons be much more advanced? I stay abreast of what we use in the field. It hasn't changed.

I mean more advanced than what some of have on the civilian market. select fire,Apc's tanks, aircraft, incendiary devices, missiles etc etc etc. Our military is far better armed than civilians

America is more advanced than the Afghans, yet they STILL own a good chunk of that hell hole. Not saying a Predator drone won't ruin your day, or that tanks are badass, but there are ways around them. When you break it down you are still talkin about guys with guns vs guys with guns. Not guys with guns vs guys with plasma rifles.

NOt really. APC's? Those are a joke and can be removed from the equation easily. Not to mention you can steal them if they are used against you. Missiles? Won't be used against an American population. We can't use them against Iraqis or Libyans or Afghanis. Definitely won't be used on something we have to rebuild. Incens? Have you ever used one? Limited blast and again, not really used too often. Do you know how badly armed AFghanis are compared to us? And how they fought the Russians and us to a standstill?

Not to mention the guys fighting for their home aren't going to have any qualms about killing and destroying everything on the other side. The other side, the Marines in this case, will be worried about ROE, destruction of infrastructure, dependent on communication arrays, civilian bridges and are VERY limited when it comes to forests, mountains, and anything except open cities or plains. Hell, even cities are a death trap to an invading force. Ever see a tank stopped by burning tires? I have.
