You mean Akin? If he would have been kicked out of the GOP instantly after that it would have helped the GOP a lot. Moudock said if a pregnancy happens because of a rape then it's gods plan. Again it's not a huge stretch to get to no abortions from rape because it's gods plan

bobby jindal would be a good pick. rhode scholar, very smart guy. being form a non-white race might cost him votes from bigots though.

bloomberg? maybe. but I don't think his views go along with the base of republicans.

Bush proved you don't have to be smart or a good speaker (or really good at anything for that matter) to become president. just have to surround yourself with the right people in the right places, so anything is possible.

Bigots? We have a two term black prez. I think we can put that to rest.

To a huge part of the populace issues like that are very important, because it can directly impact them on a personal level. The debt just isn't real to them. Until the GOP gets that message and gets someone who can relate to the average person they are in trouble. Bushie did that rather well and he was able to connect even tho he came from a rich family. Clinton can across as a good ol boy who was intelligent. O excells at connecting. Mittens and his wife were constantly trying to fight the elitist tag while shooting themselves in the foot with their actions. In the grand scheme of things a 75,000 horse, 5 cadilacs for her, and a garage with an elevator are really meaningless. BUT when you have those things it does make it hard for a normal person to connect with you and think you aren't looking down your nose at them.

I still don't see how a career politician/lawyer who hangs out with celebrities all day "relates" to the common person, let alone welfare recipients which is the higher percentage demographic for democrats. Doesn't make sense. Basically the moronic younger majority want a cool guy as president and could care less about the real issues. I can't blame them, I didn't give a shit about anything in college either except partying. If this continues, good luck getting any GOP anymore, times have changed.

Bloomberg? Really? He's the least Republican politician on the planet. He wants government in control of everything.
ZOMBIE REAGAN FOR PRESIDENT 2016!!! heh

You aren't "kicked out," once you're on a ticket. If you've secured a party's nomination, you're in it until the election is over. They can withdraw any funds they promised, and the RNC did after his, "legitimate rape," flap. What's cool about the RNC, though, is they will take care of their own. He'll never get a nomination like that again, but they'll let him work on others' future campaigns, if he wants to.

And this is one reason the election turned out how it did. If the RNC had instantly come out and stated that Akin did not represent the GOP and stated that he should remove the R behind his name and possibly campaigned against him it would have helped. Instead the GOP outrage was rather muted and not long after you had Mourdock (?) stating that it was gods plan. When you connect the dots you can easily jump to GOP supports both of them.

If a candidate lets himself be seen in the same room with either of these morons in the future I think he's taking a real risk.

So you are admitting that a huge part of the populace is ignorant?

He doesn't actually HAVE to. He just has to seem too. It's all about appearances.

The persistent belief that most Dems are on welfare is also handicapping the GOP. The truth is they aren't. Are there some? Sure, but most? No Most people that are on welfare aren't going to get out and vote for anyone.

I am pretty sure the bigot that first said Bloomberg was being factitious.

Ignorant? Yes and no, they just have different priorities than you do in reality. You would call them ignorant. They would call you other things.
Obviously there are more of them than there are ones like you.
