Pretty sure with a half decent lawyer you could convince them. You have guys setting fire to stuff attached to or around your house. You're not a mind reader you have no idea if they are about to set your house on fire or not but you know they have the ability to make fire because they are doing so on your property right that second.

I GENERALLY will agree with you on this, but I surely understand where everyone is coming from. Lawyers/Lawmakers protect the criminals more so than us and would I SHOOT someone over that - maybe not. It would not take much though. (i.e. them turning around in a threatening manner, approaching me...etc)

Just because I may not do it, does not mean I would not "understand" why someone else did it.

Hell, growing up in WV I remember KNOWING damned well I could get shot just by running through someone else's woods. Hell, they'd put their dogs on us and probably would have shot if they could hit us. Not all were like that, but trespassing used to be taken extremely serious - with proper reason too. I had friends that would come out with a loaded weapon until I spoke up. (rode in on bikes, dogs barking alerted them)

If people will vandalize they likely will steal and everything else. Hard to mind read common criminals.

A flag would burn up in around a minute or two, long before the house would catch on fire. Like I said... Shoot someone who sets a sign on your yard on fire, and let me know how that works out for you. You won't convince any jury in America that a sign on fire in your yard, made you fear for your life. Thus, your defense fails, and you go to prison for murder.
