Why does Planned Parenthood get federal funds again?

Originally posted by Yale View PostThis is one of those social programs we all want, frost, like paved roads. Is it perfect? No. Also, abortions account for very little of their funds. The vast majority of their funds go to women's health (including pre-natal care for those that want to bring their pregnancy to term), pregnancy prevention, and education/outreach. Religious nut jobs seem to think girl parts are icky, though, so they decry it as a national organization bent on murdering every fetus it finds.
There is an overwhelming lack of personal responsibility in this country that is sickening.
I do understand that there are inherent benefits to society as a whole, as there are for the plethora of other social programs that I'm already paying for, which is the cost of living in America. I am ok with that, but I am NOT ok with any private organization using our tax dollars to fund any kind of political statement.
This is a case of a welfare family buying groceries on their lonestar card, paying cash for smokes and beer, and loading it all up into their new Escalade, but on a grand scale. If you can afford all of the extras that many other hard working families or organizations can't afford, then you need to be recieving less or no government assistance at all.

There are more or less 4 groups of people.
Those who don't have children.
Those who wait until the can afford and somehow be responsible parents.
Those who have them too early, but somehow make it work on their own. (i.e. working a lot, family helping and such) Kudos to this group in a lot of situations. I know a few that have raised great kids and are being rewarded by seeing their sacrifices pay off. Same as the previous 2 groups, but these folks to me dug in and got it done.
Those who are too young, too immature, too poor...etc Generally it seems like this is the group being catered to. Why do the other 3 groups have to support their poor choices? Generally speaking, if it is federally funded or run - it's going to be a money pit and inefficient.
I generally concur with FF on this one. If you the citizens want it, state or private funding. Get federal funds the hell out of there, we have enough financial problems.
More importantly, why don't people start making better choices and learn to deal with bad choices? It REALLY sucks, but it does build character and appreciation for various things. Just because you make a bad choice with sex and are poor does not mean you can't make it work. You can.
I only really know 1 pediatrician these days, and she supposedly know 14 y/o girls on their 2nd or 3rd child. WTF?! Did you not LEARN anything after the first? I'm not spun up over the average f'up that teens make, although bad enough - I also don't want to be funding the people who do it over and over and over again. Pregnancy and child should be birth control all on it's own if you're poor, immature..whatever. You should be too busy and tired from working and caring for your child.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.
