  • Schools teaching Islam now?

Post from a friend of mine on FB, this apparently is happening in hurst. Her family is VERY christian

    Her post
"I am very irritated that my son had to take a test on pillars of faith of islam, what mohammed did to begin islam, what are miss understandings of the religion, how they brought us art and we brought them war. Under no circumstances should my 12yr be writing there is no god but allah"

Reminds me of the, "why do we need to learn math, we have calculators"

I see nothing wrong with teaching a basic understanding of the Islam religion.

I see a huge problem with it in Public schools. No religion means no religion.

That's hard to do in history or cultural studies. It doesn't sound like anyone is teaching religion, so much as history of religion. Very different in my opinion.

This is a culturally diverse world we live in, I believe students should have a basic understanding of the world around them, including cultural differences. and for many regions of the world their religions define their cultural basis. No one should be doing any religious recruiting or teaching in public school, I agree with you on that.

              Egg-Fucking-Zactly.

While I can see your point Matt, history of religion is still religion.

That's total bullshit. They already try to hide their sharia laws under the cloak and protection of religion. If you give them a way, they will hide their religion and the indoctrination of our kids under the cloak of history.

Going by your reasoning, I think they should make kids learn all of the scriptures of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelations. Strictly for historical purposes, of course. Do you think the non believers would go for that?

I don't want want my kids to learn anything that will make them sympathetic to their barbaric "peaceful religion". Those people won't rest until we're dead. The only thing good for most of them is a bullet to the head.

No one is saying they should teach scripture. Im against any sort of scripture, or anything other than basic structure, origin, and historical impact of religion being taught at that level. But having a basic understanding of the cultures, and yes even religions of the world, better prepares people for understanding global issues.

Whether you like it or not, the business world is evolving into a globally culturally diverse work force. Having an understanding of all cultures better prepares people to succeed in this environment. Hell most kids coming out of high school have a piss poor knowledge of anything outside the US, north america, and possibly western europe, when it comes to geography.

I can understand what you are saying, but I don't think having any kind of mis-understanding of those people and their fucked up ways are going to benefit us in the least. Their history and cult religion is what drives them to hate us so much. I refuse to compromise one inch to their feelings or thought process. They've proven they cannot be trusted. That is what my kids will learn about them.

How is being against a certain religion equate to racist comments? How could you assume he is against Islam because he may be a racist; and why would it be no surprise? Use your head.

I'm not seeing a lot of business opportunity with an entire people that choose to live in caves, crap into buckets and dump it in the street when they have running water and burn your business to the ground, rape and kill you and your family if you do something they don't like.
