Not at all. Peer review is great and I have to do it to be published. Got all that. However, if you do not duplicate the tests and verify for yourself, then you're taking what you're told on faith. Do you believe neutrons and protons exist? Why? Have you seen them? Or do you believe what others have done and have told you is true?

Exactly. And racr goes to show athiests have a religion of their own. You challenge them that maybe there's more to the universe than they can see and they lose it and get angry. You can challenge my religion every day and I won't get angry. You mention God to Racr, he loses it

faith that is based on demonstrable, repeatable processes.

No, faith that is based on someone else doing something and sharing their results with you. I can bring up thousands and thousands of people who have seen angels, a white light near death and so forth. Does that mean it's a demonstrable, repeatable process? For you to find out if they're wrong, you'd have to enter the same state they did and report. Same thing with the majority of science. You have to trust what those 'experts' tell you. That's faith. If you are not willing or able to independently verify yourself everything you believe, by definition, you have faith that you're being told the truth on something you do not know.

I didn't know you had to be in a "certain state" to be a scientist and replicate their results.

"Faith" in science is not linear with faith in religion. that's an absurd comparison.

And YOU have no idea how science works. And neither does frost. All you yahoo's believe is what some sheep shagger wrote down some 2000 years ago filled with ridiculous claims.

Frost. Science is exactly the opposite of faith. Try again.

Edit: I shouldn't say "all you yahoo's" because I'm not sure of your stance, but if you think like he does, feel free to lump yourself in.

No, I was referring to near death experiences. To duplicate most scientific results, you have to have a specialization in the field, specialized equipment and so forth. If you have none of that, you can't duplicate it. Otherwise, right now using your own experience and tools on hand, prove black holes exist.

                            There is proof?

Like Kyle said the two are completely different.

If you could sit in any dark cold room, light an inscent while rubbing your feet together to cause ghosts or angels to appear constantly after rigorous testing then you may have a point but until then your comparison is null and void.

And you believe in a field that constantly proves itself wrong. You also rely on the expertise and work of others to explain things you cannot explain or duplicate yourself. Sounds like faith to me.

Science is faith. You have a hypothesis and try to prove it. Quite a few scientists throw out evidence that doesn't fit their hypothesis and you get skewed results. And if you can't prove a theory on your own, you are taking the experience and work of others by faith, to be correct.

Again, I find it amusing that you get bent out of shape over God and yet most Christians don't have the same visceral reaction when we're challenged over our beliefs. I don't discount science, I've spent a good deal of time being a science nerd and love science. I also believe science hasn't advanced far enough to prove God but believe it will in time. Same thing I believe science will eventually discover faster than light travel though they're nowhere near it now.

You have your faith, I have mine. Difference is, I recognize mine for what it is.

Most of the people who see the light or see angels are pretty much already "believers" are they not?

Its like buying a new Ford Bronco, I am sure any day before that you barely ever see them but once you buy one and get out they are fucking all over the place.
