  • The west has lost...almost

With all the problems arising in the middle east it is obvious the west is on the edge of no return. We are afraid to offend or upset our enemies (out leaders call them allies) and let them get away with murder...literally. No one can defeat the US in a war if we fight using the same rules but we handicap our soldiers. We cripple the enemy to the point they are almost defeated and then start playing peace police. Then politics says we must leave right away because war is bad. Now we have 2 enemies, the ones we were fighting and the one we left on their own (i.e. Afghanistan in the 80s and Iraq will soon follow I am sure).

We are at the same level as France, someone puts out a cartoon against Muslims and the French abandon their embassies because they are afraid of retaliation.

Unless we grow some balls soon we are a snowball heading for hell...

Jimmy Carter had me feeling the same way towards the end of his term ('79/'80). The USSR, China, and most of the middle-east were nipping at our heels. He had decimated the military and was seen as a coward by most of the world, including his own country.

I think of it like this - don't start no shit, won't be no shit.

Lets shrink the empire, bring the troops home, reduce US spending on non-US problems, quit occupying foreign shit holes, and let the brokedicks kill each other off. Of course that won't fly with the military industrial complex. One can dream.

Yeah, this is a great theory - BUT, the rest of the world is pissed off at us. If we tuck tail and run, it will be viewed as weakness and they will press the issue.

I said in 11th grade that political correctness would be the death of the US and my screaming liberal civics teachers cried foul, but it is the case.

I love when people call us an 'empire.' Empires expand their holdings, we haven't. We could and I think we should. Everyplace that we have a base on, tell them they are now part of the US and as such owe taxes. We're already providing the protection, time to get paid.

If we fall back to Fortress America, our enemies will come knocking and we won't have the buffer of oceans protecting us. We've been very fortunate we've been able to fight away from our home. If you don't meet the enemy on a foreign field of battle, they WILL come here. You cannot negotiate with terrorists, you cannot appease them. Some people just want to watch the world burn. You meet them on their home turf and you kill them all. You kill them and make examples of them so that their grandchildren fear raising their arms against us. You want to see how to fight an enemy that views themselves doing the will of God? Look at Japan.

Okay, drop leaflets, post internet videos, warn people, send smoke signals, whateverthefuck, "THE FUCKERY STOPS HERE OR YOU GET CARPET BOMBED, WE DONT FUCK AROUND IN THIS PLACE." Zero tolerance, the ball is in their court, fuck this decades of taxpayer funded occupation we do the world over.

An imperial political structure is established and maintained in two ways: (i) as a territorial empire of direct conquest and control with force (direct, physical action to compel the emperor's goals), and (ii) as a coercive, hegemonic empire of indirect conquest and control with power (the perception that the emperor can physically enforce his desired goals). The former provides greater tribute and direct political control, yet limits further expansion because it absorbs military forces to fixed garrisons. The latter provides less tribute and indirect control, but avails military forces for further expansion.
Non-intervention was a traditional conservative policy - not the newfound liberal "conservatism" practiced today.

Small gov't > big gov't, but since you're a liberal you won't agree with me on that one.
