I'd like to see Bill as the First Lady! You know that would be some great Shenanigans!

Think she would lead him around on a red leash with a brilliant blue ball gag?!?

THAT would make me have mad respect for her.

Martyrs and Saints are very similar.
Dieing for one's belief in their God falls under both categories.
Extremists from both Religions have done the exact same thing.
Moderates from both Religions cry the same fouls.
Earlier writings are nearly verbatim between both books.
Later translations are still very similar.
Later translations of the translations still hold similarities.

Now we have the New Living which is a crock, but at least it gets further away from its roots in the Middle East where those cooky motherfuckers live. This is where the divide takes off into the abyss allowing anyone to believe however they see fit with some crap that makes sense only if you've never read the original Bible.

No, I didn't vote for Hillary, but I would have rather had her than obummer.
Not the same at all, the divergence between Judaism and Islam began with Isaac and Ishmael.

So, you're sticking with no similarities at all?

Not past having a common patriarch in Abraham.

Using religion to advance political purposes (as in a theocracy) does not detract from the religion itself though, in my opinion, because using it in such a manner for material gain violates its original purpose and it becomes religion in name only.

On another note, your statement that martyrs and saints are very similar is one I disagree with, because although all saints are indeed martyrs, all martyrs are not saints.

[QUOTE=Jester;818722]What I hate about organized religion is all the crap involved. Do this and you go to heaven.....do this and you go to hell.....blah blah blah. It is all a bunch of made up crap to control the masses. end of story.

as far as christianity goes, if you accept that jesus died on the cross for your sins and receive him as your lord and savior , you , my friend are considered saved.......end of story, nothing you do (NOTHING), will eliminate you from heaven.........do not accept this and as far as the bible goes, you do not gain entry into heaven.

i myself have trouble with this, i have said earlier that 2 close people to me died recently, and i know both to have been good people, however the way the chose to live and how they died leaves me wondering, and i know that neither were saved, i can hope all i want but thats why i pray for them nightly.

The whole point of religion is to legitimize authority. Why else create it?

Because people need something to believe in, something that helps to explain the complex world around them.

That's how I see it too. Much like Santa Claus as a kid, and we all know how that turned out.

That's damn near the mission statement of "science"....

Anyone on this site calling anybody else a moron is, shall we say, ironic at best.
