What is it that "they" want to ignore?

i watched my parents business get destroyed during reagan's leadership with the savings and loan junk. All that was focused on was publicly traded home builders to show new home starts instead of revenue. (My father designed the first house D.R. Horton ever built.) This happened during Bush 2 as well, as long as the boys on wall st are showing home starts the housing market must be doing well....wrong. I was very young, but residential architects and custom home builders didn't exactly have a great time during the mid to late 80's. Their business came back a bit in the mid 90's, but never before like it once was.

Insurance, my father's disease that ended up killing him required insurance that was almost $2200/month, with medication that was around $938/day. Sure, life isn't fair, says the republican side, you can't afford it, he dies.......cool, most members here would have to watch their loved ones die. I understand all that, i was fortunate enough to get another 7 years after he was diagnosed. Until some of these issues from the "dark side" hit you, i can understand both sides' reasoning, i just have my own.

people like our member steve who need medication to function. People you wouldn't think about that need help who have nowhere to turn, who's parents are just as fucked up and can provide nothing for what the state considers a "responsible adult".

I must have missed the part of the campaign that wants to stop Medicaid and Medicare and forget those who cannot help themselves. Got a link to that?

Ok, what makes you think any of the people who actually need that assistance wont get it if Obama doesnt get re-elected? Obama care will drive the price of private insurance up (it already has) and the quiality of heath care down.

I'm in the housing industry, and the '80's were nothing compared to what it's been through with this Prez. You can thank Jimmy Carter for the S&L crap that started in the '70's. The blame game can go on and on, but I challenge you to tell me how Obama has helped with any of this.

that brings me to my next point, i can't condone nor can i say i'm exactly thrilled with what our current administration has done, but for me it's the lesser of two evils.

A lot of the crap that happened in the 80's was residue from the cause and effect of Carter. Obama has been following Carter's action very closely. I predict that we are going to have some serious fallout due to having the extreme opposite in office after Obama, but it is better than what would happen if Obama stayed in.

The replies in this thread are hilarious to say the least. Income tax credits are 30 years of GOP tax policy, starting with Reagan and finishing with the Republican Congress in the 90s and the Bush tax cuts in 2001.

The GOP has caused this rise in folks not paying income taxes and now they're claiming these people are poor Obama voters? LOL. You can't make this stuff up.

                      Edit: Sources:

Under Republican leadership, tax reform removed 6 million low-income people from the income tax rolls and brought financial relief to tens of millions more.

I've been listening to the media go on and on and on about this all day. Makes me want to just punch them all in the throat. Why is it hard to understand he was talking strategy? People who pay no taxes don't care about lowering taxes so he's not focusing on winning them over.

nothing, but i question why on earth would a man who does as well for himself financially want to burden himself with the meager job of running this united states. Something is strange with all of that.

Some of the initial tax breaks, yes. The expansions on those tax breaks, no.

The nullification of Clinton's welfare reform that puts more leaches on the government dole was done by Obama. If that goes unchecked then we will have a much larger issue to deal with.
