  • GOP the Party of Racists

... Yet the left's brand, MSNBC, mysteriously doesn't cover the minority speakers at opening night last night.

One of the left’s favorite attacks on the Republican Party is that it is the party of old white people, devoid of diversity and probably racist.

If you were watching MSNBC’s coverage of the Republican National Convention in Tampa on Tuesday night, you might believe those assertions, since missing from the coverage was nearly every ethnic minority that spoke during Tuesday’s festivities.

In lieu of airing speeches from former Democratic Rep. Artur Davis, a black American; Mia Love, a black candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives from Utah; and Texas senatorial hopeful Ted Cruz, a Latino American, MSNBC opted to show commentary anchored by Rachel Maddow from Rev. Al Sharpton, Ed Schultz, Chris Matthews, Chris Hayes and Steve Schmidt.

Throughout this convention, Matthews has accused the Republicans of playing dog-whistle racist politics while on scene in Tampa. It isn’t clear, however, if Matthews will hurl accusations of racism at Davis, Love or Cruz for speeches his network failed to broadcast.

Well, the guy throwing nuts at the black videographer and saying, "This is how we feed animals," didn't do them any favors.

I don't know if it was recorded; I haven't found anything. Not all news is captured first-hand, however much we might like it so.

I suppose CNN could be complicit in a twitter fabrication that has been covered by MSNBC, Huffington Post, and other leftist media outlets. Seems like a good way to lose all credibility, and for what?

Its just funny how the person who "broke" this story was indefinitely suspended from msnbc in 2010, admits its a third hand account that he tweeted as fact without checking, has no proof that that is what happened, and cnn wont corroborate the account even though it would be a huge ratings boost for them, and its news they would hardly let sit considering their constant attempts to paint the tea party and republicans as racist.

The only thing that has been confirmed is two attendees, which anyone can be, were thrown out for despicable behavior, in the words of the rnc. No mention of who they are, what their motives were, or what political affiliationthey might have been.

Also odd how a videographer, covering the event, didnt seem to catch any video, and there are no eye witness accounts in a place packed with thousands. CNNs wolf blitzer mentioned there were, but not one has come forward.

Looots of speculatin and almost no evidence. Well see if any turns up.

Heres a decent account as far as how it started and umfolded on twitter.

I appreciate the need to question sources; evaluate authors and apparent bias in media coverage. It does seem odd that the situation was not recorded but, unless the recording was surreptitious, would you expect someone to behave in the alleged manner in front of an active camera?

CNN did corroborate, at least, that the event in question occurred, if not the particulars. My initial thought is that they didn't want to become the story. I don't see how it would be a boon to their ratings; until it isn't some no-name schmucks who can be tied to anyone or anything of significance, I don't see it getting much real coverage and what will persist is editorializing on the scant ad hominem value it has. People who will buy into it will do so under confirmation bias, that much is apparent with the twittering on your link.

Apparently the videographer was Patricia Carroll and she spoke briefly about it, covered in this short article: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0812/80443.html

The black CNN camerawoman who had nuts thrown at her by Republican National Convention attendees says she “isn’t surprised” by what happened.

“I hate that it happened, but I’m not surprised at all,” Patricia Carroll, 34, told journalist Richard Prince. Prince writes a blog for the Maynard Institute, which promotes racial diversity in journalism.

“This situation could happen to me at the Democratic convention or standing on the street corner,” she said. “Racism is a global issue.”

Two attendees threw nuts at Carroll on Tuesday while yelling “This is how we feed the animals.” They were removed from the convention floor.

She also noted there weren’t many black women at the convention in Tampa.

“This is Florida, and I’m from the Deep South,” said Carroll, an Alabama native. “You come to places like this, you can count the black people on your hand. They see us doing things they don’t think I should do.”

Carroll said Americans shouldn’t overstate racial progress.

“People were living in euphoria for a while,” she said. “People think we’re gone further than we have.”

I think she addresses the issue appropriately, which is why I'm less inclined to believe it an exaggeration. This is not anything to do with the RNC, or Republicans. Unfortunate event all around.

They were liberal plants sent in to try and create a story. I'll bet you my vast DFWMustangs.net baller wealth on it.

In other news, the word "Chicago" is now racist.
