  • How Obamacare is screwing me :D

Well, it was just a matter of time but I am finally directly affected as a worker in a hospital. Part of the Obamacare initiative is going to a "value based" Medicare/Medicaid reimbursement. These assholes are basing the amount they will reimburse the hospital for care and services by the patient satisfaction scores. Im not sure who thought this nonsense up but they need a beating.

You cannot go to Walmart and say that you are going to pay 80% of your bill because you didnt like the cashier's attitude. But now the government will to the healthcare industry. Patients receive patient satisfaction surveys after hospital stays by a third party for HCAHAPS statistics. My work is laying down the hammer as well as many other hospitals across the country due to the possible loss of funding. These are surveys you cannot win. You could cure a patient of cancer or bring them back to life and the family will not be satisfied with everything. Patients expect to be pain free after major surgeries. Families are overprotective and often do the surveys for the patients. Simple things as written discharge paperwork will drag down the hospital. You will not EVER leave the hospital without written discharge paperwork though 25-30% of people claim they do not get it. Places like Parkland are going to implode. They are already in trouble, this is going to kill their funding and Im not sure where public hospital services will come from.

Our healthcare industry is on a direct path to the ground. We will all start paying higher healthcare costs to subsidize this crazy idea.

My job has already said next year we wont get raises (which was already cut from 3% to 2%) next year and we will have budget cuts if we dont get our scores up. Not going to happen. This piece of legislation is major motivation for me to get a master's degree and out of the BS.

And the demand for health care professionals will increase. They will pay a lot less, but need more bodies, which means the standards will drop as does the pay. Then we wind up with a bunch of incompetent idiots running our hospitals and ER's. It's a slippery slope that he's started.

I work for a major medical imaging OEM and this directly affects us as well. If our customers have less money to spend, we in turn sell less equipment.

You make a great point - medical procedures are often uncomfortable. No one enjoys going in for a physical or surgery, but sometimes it's gotta be done. The mouth breathers at the indigent care facilities like Parkland are going to bitch and moan about everything. The difference is: now their bitching directly affects the reimbursement the hospital receives for their care. Care the patient isn't paying for in the first place.

If someone ends up on one of my Cath Lab tables and the stent they've places saved their lives, they should be grateful. You know as well as I do, these people will bitch about the mashed potatoes from the cafeteria and every other inconsequential part of the experience rather than focusing on how lucky they really are to be alive.

What a joke. I expect a survey for my car's oil change not for the stitches I need because of a poor life choice.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

My jello was runny and the candy striper did not look like the ones from the 1970's porn I loved as a kid. I am no longer bleeding but tjey promised no scar. What is the point of getting cut without a scar to show the chicks? CSI score of a 49 is awarded.

A week ago I went under the knife at Baylor Waxahachie. They were all fantastic and it is funny you bring this up. I had to do a survey for them on satisfaction ratings. The survey had each person that cared for me listed separately.
