This will happen right up to the moment that guy takes his old hunting rifle and walks into the water commission and thins it out

I'm having trouble processing this nonsense. It reads like an Onion article. If the government claims ownership of water on my land, it's over for me.

As of right now it is illegal to collect rain water only in certain states and Texas is NOT one of them. However, the EPA or FDA (I can't remember which one) is/has been trying to gain control and ownership of ALL water from the water puddle in the alley way to the pond on the farm for the cows. Luckily they haven't been able to get very far with their efforts, yet.
Annoying people, one post at a time!

Yep, EPA said that ditches and puddles are 'navigable waters' and under their jurisdiction

                  Exactly.

But that doesn't scare me as much as the government trying to control carbon dioxide emmissions. I mean, what do we exhale? Carbon dioxide.

So I guess it would be against the law to go hit the local lake for water to keep my yard green . I have access to a 750 gallon poly tank on a trailer with a 1200 gph pump on it .

Stuff like this is how this happens and then he is solely the bad guy. No one analyzes how it got to that point.

I don't want anyone misunderstanding me - it's WRONG to retaliate in this manner from multiple points of view. Especially when truly innocent workers/people are killed.

However, it's like some folks who have a wife that does not put out, bitches 24x7 and takes-takes-takes. I understand why the dude goes get some on the side.

I had no Idea. I did a little search and see that Utah, Washington and Colorado are some of the states with these laws. I suppose the original laws from 80 years ago were to ensure people did not stop the flow of water on their land. How could this be applicable to rainwater?
I see Colorado has a law that concerns rainbarrels.
CRS ยง 37-92-602 allow Coloradoans to collect rain water, but the article overstates the breadth of the law. A person can collect water from their rooftop if:

The building used to collect water is a single-family residence and is not served by a domestic water system that serves more than three single-family dwelling

the water is used for: a. household purposes; b. fire protection; c. watering of poultry, domestic animals, etc.; OR d. to water lawns that are one acre or less

and the person capturing the water must comply with: a. file a form with the state engineer stating that the rooftop collection is used in conjunction with a well; b. if they file for a new well permit, they must describe their rooftop collection system (and pay a fee); c. if they are not using a well, but would be entitled to the issuance of a well permit (as pursuant to other sections of the statutes), they can file an application to do so and then pay a fee as determined by the state engineer if the engineer says it's ok.
The more I read, the more I see the reasoning behind the creation. I don't believe I will ever accept this type of control over a the number one natural/necessary resource.

                            I agree.
I suppose I would go to jail, but I honestly believe I would consider defending myself against what I feel would be a unjust arrest when the authorities came onto my property to carry it out.
