  • "you didn't build that"... Who said it first?

Wasn't there an elected official, a black female, who said this same thing a year ago? She's from Georgia, I think... It was part of a more in-depth diatribe, but in essence, the same thing. It didn't go over well then either.

    Anyone remember?
Ronald Reagan:"Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it."

Homer: "Bart...there's 2 things I know about women. Never give them nicknames like "jumbo" or "boxcar" and always keep receipts...it makes you look like a business man."

Are you thinking of Shirley Sherrod?

She got canned for saying she didn't help a white farmer.

        Indeed!

By KEVIN ROBILLARD | 7/25/12 9:46 AM EDT

Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) said Wednesday that President Barack Obama made his “you didn’t build that” comments after getting “bad advice from professor [Elizabeth] Warren.”

“They’re almost verbatim,” Brown said on “Fox and Friends,” referring to a speech Warren gave last year. “And the president got bad advice from professor Warren, certainly. You’ll never hear me demonizing our job creators.”

Warren, a Harvard Law professor who worked in the Obama administration and is challenging Brown for his seat, gave an address that went viral and that hit some of the same notes as Obama’s recent remarks in Roanoke, Va.

”You built a factory out there?” Warren said during her remarks at a fundraiser in Andover, Mass., last August. “Good for you. But I want to be clear: you moved your goods to market on the roads the rest of us paid for; you hired workers the rest of us paid to educate; you were safe in your factory because of police forces and fire forces that the rest of us paid for.”

“Now look, you built a factory and it turned into something terrific, or a great idea,” she continued. “God bless. Keep a big hunk of it. But part of the underlying social contract is you take a hunk of that and pay forward for the next kid who comes along.”

Obama’s rhetoric two weeks ago - which has been hammered by Mitt Romney and Republicans - echoed a similar theme.

“If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help,” he said at a campaign rally. “There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”

But Brown, running in deep-blue Massachusetts, also tried to draw a distinction between Warren and Obama.

“I’m glad the president is stepping back and correcting the record,” Brown said, when asked about Obama’s assertion that the Romney camp is taking his remarks out of context. “But there’s none of that with professor Warren. She’s actually doubled down and believes we should have more government interference.”

“She’s a jobs destroyer,” Brown continued. “Wanting more taxes, higher and more regulations.”

Brown’s comments came a day after the release of a poll showing Warren with a slim edge in their race. The Democrat leads Brown, 40 percent to 38 percent, according to the survey from The MassINC Polling Group.

Thanks. Don't know why I thought E Warren was a black lady.

Funny that the hispanic gentleman quoting me for my cabinets, thanked Obama for him having to lay off half his employees over the last two years. He said this admin is killing small business owners.

Didn't she get blasted because she was unable to prove her heritage, while boasting about it?

Yup. She was also called out on it for claiming indian ancestory while in Harvard to gain employment. She was promoted within Harvard for being their "First Woman of Color"

I am shocked that the voters of Massachusetts have basically given that a pass.
