In a free society you have to be prepared and understanding of the great things that will happen as well as the horrid things. Do people want freedom or not? Anymore, I lead towards "not" because they are offering to the govt these precious freedoms that will never be returned. All I ask of the government is to protect the borders and leave me the opportunity to succeed without limits and to fail without limits to the point I can learn to succeed.Comment

I can tell you this: A friend of mine stopped the shooter at Luby's in Kileen. He didn't get a kill shot, but hit the shooter, George Hennard , which caused Hennard to run for cover (like the little bitch coward he was). When Hennard realized he was pinned down, he committed suicide. Return fire changed Hennard from homicidal maniac to cowering victim in short order.Comment

Hennard was hit, and he bled, and he was seriously hurt. I'm not discounting getting shot in soft body armor not hurting (it will), but it's not going to have the same emotional response as getting hit and bleeding like a stuck pig from the damage created by a nasty soft-tissue-striking pistol round.Originally posted by JP135 View Post

Direct face, spine, throat from distance in the chaos of the theater where the crowd was erratic, screaming and trampling even the biggest of people to get out. My opinion was based upon the shooter being completely prepared for the task at hand (weaponry, smoke grenades/tear gas, armor, planning, etc) he would be prepared also for being shot. I can't lay odds on shooting him in the armor stopping/not stopping him whatsoever, but I feel strongly that it would take a shotgun or semi-auto rifle to combat someone like that.
