Military bans PMAGS

Maybe a large surplus of pmags coming our way if this gets enforced. Or they'll just crush them in typical government fashion.

They won't work in the new M27 IAR rifle so that would be my guess as to the reason they banned them.

I hear SAWs don't like them either, but I have also heard they run like shit any time you try and use the axillary magazine feed mechanism.

SAWS hate magazines. You'll get under a dozen rounds before you have to clear it from a jam.

I think you're suppose to only burst with the aux system so the follower can keep up.

As mentioned, basically if the local command does nothing about it - PMAGS will still be in use.

Just like you're not supposed to put kool aid or gatorade in your canteens.

You're only supposed to burst with the drum as well. 6-12 round bursts or "Die motherfucker die". However, I went cyclic when I got shot and got the barrel a bit warm

You're supposed to burst for barrel longevity in that case.

As for what we do with mags, you're supposed to retain them if you can but it's really situation dependent. I never discourage my guys dropping mags if it's what they need to do. We keep shit tons of extra mags just for this reason.

I would too if that were the case, lol. But we got all our pmags from the outgoing unit.

I picture you out on the battlefield in a firefight. The enemy surrounding and your group trying to get away. At that point, you hollar, "WAIT UP, GUYS!" "I DROPPED MY MAG!"

If I had to resort to mags, something is BAD wrong. I had over 800 rounds in drums on my armor plus what was in my SAW. Not saying you can't run out, I did, but resorting to mags means you are in deep

It was a city of several million and a lot of them didn't like us.

Yeah some of the guys I worked with bitched about all the shooting and blowing up they had to do. They were in a mode, but I did feel for them. When you run out of 203 grenades, and you had a stock of over 100 and you could use more, it's not a good thing - that's a lot of 203 projectiles. (not saying all from one guy)

During our firefight, we had our combat loads only. That's 7 mags per soldier and I had 4 drums plus what was in my weapon and the 7 mags. No 203 rounds (they took them as they didn't want us using them), took the morphine and IV kits out of our combat medic bags, the Brads had 200 rounds of 7.62 and about 5 rounds of 20mm. Our QRF brads were taken out of the AO during the fight but that's a story that has a lot of anger and bitterness for me.

Ever see a Hmmv running on 2 cylinders, pouring smoke, on 4 flats with every bit of glass spiderwebbed and a LMTV being drug sideways by a Bradley until you can get out of the way enough to thermite it?
