Today was the first I have watched that video I guess. You know I just never understand the beating the shit out of someone once they give up. Nobody wins in that situation. All that does is probably get him a reduced sentence, everyone on scene an internal, criminal charges, a lawsuit, and or termination. I agree with some of the above statements though. White, black, or hispanic wouldn't have made a difference in that video. An officer that will beat your ass for no reason does not see color, only that you have not complied with his absolute authority. What also is sad is that the system almost promotes this, and don't take this as me defending these guys, I am not. I say that because my small town has its share of bad ass little kids. We catch them, lock them up, and they are out again in a month. We work our asses off to get one good solid burglary charge on a kid, when you know damn good and well he has committed fifteen, and then boom a slap on the wrist. It is very frustrating and I guess some guys can not deal with that. I hate it for the community that has to deal with being scared to go to work everyday or their house might be broken into but thats just how it is. I try to explain to my recruits that you can not take this shit personally, it will just eat you up. I get beat in traffic court, oh well, it doesnt affect my pay one bit. I get beat in county court, same thing. I try my best to do a good job and not worry about the things I can not control. You guys would not believe some of the stuff I have heard jurrors say and why people get let off. Some guys take this job to personally or to cock strong and it just ends badly for everyone. I had a agg sexual assualt case where one juror hung the whole deal to get the guy life. When interviewed afterward he stated that it was not that he didn't believe the guy raped the woman, only that she should have never opened the door. WTF!!!!!!! Guess what? He had felony charges in MS that popped up he had to go answer for. In the end, it just takes time and bad people will almost always screw up again.
