  • Obama wins re-election

President Obama today announced that he now supports same-sex marriage, reversing his longstanding opposition amid growing pressure from the Democratic base and even his own vice president.

It's over folks. We get Obama once more.

He's the first President in history to outright say he supports gay marriage. Should be interesting to see how his voters in the Bible Belt respond to that.

I don't see a problem with it and don't see why so many on the right are so opposed to it. All it is, is a fucking certificate after all.
How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

I blame this on Obama watching Glee with his daughters.

And it's not even all religious folks, either.

So, if it is just a certificate, do you think Mormon type 3+ marriages be sanctioned also?

As long as they are in love, do they not have the right to be married?

(In general, with minor exceptions, the same talking points used for gay marriage can be used for almost any type of marriage)

Honestly, I really think this is a minor issue compared to all the other crap wrong with the federal government these days, but it is a hot button topic for some.

In my opinion, if the gay marriage advocates would have settled for a "civil union" term, they would've gotten 99.9% of everything they wanted as far as legal\recognized rights, but I honestly think the side purpose to all of this was to screw with the establishment.... To literally be drama "queens"...

I was thinking they already voted for us all.

Obama being a liberal Dem already had the gay vote since they're usually liberal Dems. He may lose some bible belt votes as pointed out above, but most anglos in that group are conservative Republican anyway. The black christian vote is the question. Do they keep voting for him based on race, or change based on theological differences. My bet is they'll go with race and $$$$.

I don't fucking care. He is just creating more BS to deflect with, from what matters.

I am with you. I don't think this changes anything. Obama already had the gay vote, if anything, he stands to lose more people by this. I don't care either way what they do with gays, as I am not one nor really care. My cousin is gay and she still won't vote for Obama. Obama may still win the election, but I don't think it will have anything to do with his support for gays.

The government shouldn't be involved one iota in our private lives. If two homos wanna tie the knot, let 'em. If a guy wants to marry a ream of paper, by all means. It's not endangering anybody or having a negative effect on society.

Hell, I'm against gay marriage and feel it is VERY minor past the 15-20 other MAJOR issues going on in this country.

At this point, I'm more pissed off that it's a talking/voting point than anything else. Lets waste time with bullshit issues as opposed to addressing real issues.
