  • Ron Paul running as an independent?

I haven't heard any discussions around this lately. He's obviously not going to get the GOP nomination. In the interviews I've seen, he said he has no plans of doing so, but would not rule out that it is a possibility.

I know there are lots of fears around voting for him, because the big objective is to keep Obama from winning. But my gut feeling says he's more than likely going to be re-elected anyway, unless something drastic happens the remainder of the year.

Personally, I don't think Romney is much better than Nobama. If Paul's name is on the ticket, I'm voting for him. I won't pencil in his name in though, if it comes to that I'll vote Romney

I don't think Ron Paul would pull a Perot.

By all means, if RP is on the ballot, then vote for your man! I do wish someone would give all the reasons they think Romney is Barry Lite. They may share similar views on a few things, but they are VASTLY different. Is he my pick? Nope. Is he better than Barry? Yep. That's the bottom line. That's all anyone should need to know in order to make a decision on who to vote for.

As much as I agree with what he stands for, he should not run as an independent.

A few months ago I was pissed enough to write him in even if he didn't run, but with justice ginsburg retiring in 2013 I cannot let a Liberal be the one to appoint her replacement. That alone scares me enough to even put a vote for McCain again if he were the nominee.

Obama could really do a shitload of irreparable damage if he's allowed a second term. That scares the hell outta me.

So why is he not going to get the nomination? The delegate totals that the AP puts out are just guesses rite now. With Santorum out now and Newt is all but done ( can't even pay the $500 Utah filing fee) Paul has just as much chance as Romney, unless you believe what the MSM tells you. Check out some of the rallies that Paul has had the last few weeks, between 3,000 to 8,000 people showing up. Mitt is lucky to get even 1,000 to one of his.

i see stuff like this.. and it makes me wonder why so many on here are so quick to wright him off? i search romney online and i dont find much activism or grass roots stuff. the only thing that pops up on a romney google is a bunch of news articles saying he is winning/will win the nomination. search ron paul on the other hand, its night and day, it seems like more real people support him. there are tons of ron paul supporting facebook pages, but only a handful for romney.

I also find it funny how the talking heads criticize Paul when he says that he won’t just support Romney if he becomes the nominee but they also say they wouldn’t vote for Paul if he was the nominee. Why don't they ask Romney if he is going to run third party if he doesn't get the nomination?

I don't think Paul will run as a third party candidate however I don't think he will just endorse Romney either for the hell of it. Romney will have to concede something (just another day at the office for Romney) in order to get Paul to give him the nod. Paul has made a name for himself by essentially having "fuck you, I'm following the Constitution" attitude when it comes to playing political party/Washington games. That's why regular people usually love him and at the same time why his colleagues despise him.

This is all under the premiss that Romney does win, but the race is still far from over. The delegate count is a complete guess at this point. Many states that have voted haven't even selected their state delegates. Romney is in the lead, but no one knows by just how much and now there is no doubt with Santorum out it's only between Paul and Romney. That is why it is very important if you are a Paul supporter that you actually go to your senatorial convention in a couple of weeks. If enough people at the convention are Paul supporters then they will nominate Paul delegates that could potentially go to Tampa in August and vote when it really counts. Everything that can be done to block Romney delegates at this point is the right idea. Anyone who says this thing needs to wrap up soon either doesn't understand the process or they support Romney. There is no benefit to having the nominee so soon.

Here's another nugget you won't get wind of today that is pretty big news IMO

That is a daily presidential tracking poll from today where Romney/Obama is a 45/45 tie. Paul/Obama is a 44/43 win for Paul. The GOP and all the popular talking heads should be singing this from the mountain if they were actually for beating Obama.

I vote guns. Romney has the worst rating of any of the nominees by far. Consequently, I'm writing in Paul.

Don't give a damn what anyone has to say about it either as I do not like Romney and truly believe that the the only difference between he and the dictator in chief is melanin level. And the ability to speak without a teleprompter...

And while it's slanted, and only voted on, this far, by dumbasses (in the popular opinion), Paul has 70% thus far in the poll.

                            ...

Like I said, my choice is Ron Paul and I know I said I would write in Ron Paul, but I'm not going to cut off my nose to spite my face. I will be voting against O-bum. My fear is that the election will be fixed to make him win no matter what the votes are.
