From another site I'm on...
Both. Seems the military swooped in, captured several Party officials, PM and other loyalists notified interior ministry soldiers and SHTF. It's not a street battle yet, but it's getting there.
re: local or national level?
Today 10:24 PM CDT
Got word through sources at work, employees have been evacuated, and have confirmation military units are battling interior ministry forces at several Beijing government buildings.
I'm a division head in a company heavily vested in East Asia. I'm getting these reports from people inside the chaos, so who knows what will be revealed when light hits the issue.
I'll update as I hear things. I'm not in town or I would be more intune to the situation, but I'll do my best to keep you in the loop!
While I don't expect you to take my word, I'll point out I told everyone Kim Jung Il died long before it hit any news source

Wait.
Guns pointed in towards the buildings?
Or pointed outwards, defending the buildings?

Apparently an internal dispute over the ousting of several party officials favored by the military.
Not a coup yet. It's a stand-off. They're demanding the release of officials, and other officials are demanding to retain their positions. Gunfire/explosions/building to building shooting.

Well that's difficult to quantify right now. The way China safe guards its news, we'll never know for sure unless a new government takes over and announces it. As it is right now, it's a tit-for-tat ouster of party chairman, and some gun battles between military forces loyal to the removed chairmen, and internal ministry troops loyal to the sitting chairmen. I'm getting this from very reliable sources right in the middle of it, like... in the buildings being shot up. I'll keep everyone up-to-date as I get info.
