I'm pro-choice, but I'm guessing 90% of people who really can't afford a kid are not considering abortions anyway.
Knowing a few people who had abortions already, the process is bad enough. I do not see any positives to increasing the difficulty any further.
After having our twins, no way I'd consider it - even though life would be hard with a 3rd child. However, we're in our 30s, established and CAN feed, cloth and house 3 kids. We can do this without living in a home with other people, without government assistance (which to me is okay on a SHORT TERM basis, not a permanent thing) and without otherwise mooching.
The biggest reason I'm pro-choice is being a dumb ass teenager and screwing up. Never actually had to do the abortion, since girls magically did not get pregnant. However...
1. No way I could afford it.
2. No way my family could really help afford it (at the time).
3. I would've been one crappy Dad.
4. 14-21ish year old women, may have motherly instincts, but...like a male that age - way too young.
I know these are really minor reasons compared to rape, medical issues, and so forth. Still, those made me pro-choice. After my early 20s for my personal life I would not have an abortion and it was never a consideration when my wife became pregnant.
Granted there are probably thousands of GIRLS/Dudes (hell, there have been plenty of stories about 14 y/o girls on their 2nd and 3rd child) who don't consider it. I'm not 100% sure their reasons but I do not see that being a great thing for themselves, society and I'm also not sure it is doing the fetus, kids...etc any favors either.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.

One thing I've wondered about on this issue. Instead of forcing some girl to get dildo raped, how about making clinics give them counseling that includes the various options available for child adoption. They can have a closed adoption where they have no involvement after the child is born or an open adoption where they actually get to pic the parents that will raise the child as well as being able to visit the baby...
I only know of a couple of clinics that actually do that and have had some decent results. It would seem to be common sense to just offer the service. I bet there are quite a few ladies that would, at the very least, seriously consider it.

See that's one of my points. Don't want the kid? Adopt it out. No one dies and you still aren't responsible. Issue is, is pro abortion people will point out the 'difficulty' of bringing that kid to term. Sorry, you chose the action (except in cases of rape or incest), you suck it up princess.I wear a Fez. Fez-es are cool

I truly became pro-choice when I was pregnant with a baby with a serious medical condition. I carried him as long as my body naturally allowed, against my doctor's recommendation. I gave birth to him early in the 3rd trimester, and he died shortly after. My choice was to carry my child. I easily could have terminated the pregnancy under grounds of medical necessity, and very few people would have judged me on it.
I put myself back in that position and think of a woman on the other side of the fence, in a world where abortion would need a medical excuse or a judge's approval, and I cannot fathom having to plead my case to end my child's suffering in utero. To protect the victims of rape, molestation, and the women who have a valid medical necessity, you have to protect the irresponsible. At that point, you must draw a line and say, 'They will just have to reconcile their choice with a higher power.'
I have no respect for women that continually abuse the procedure as an informal birth control method, but that's an unfortunate side effect of protecting a woman's right to make choices about her body without the government policing her uterus.

03trubluGT I am with you concerning allowing abortion.
Forever_frost I am with you concerning how abortion became universally legal in this country.
Damn it sucks being on both sides of an argument.

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn't TX define rape as non consensual penetration with out defining what gets penetrated?Magnus, I am your father. You need to ask your mother about a man named Calvin Klein.

This was also in the heyday of the wringing of hands, rending of hair and gnashing of teeth Dallas abortion protesters. I got so sick of those fuckers that I thought that I was going to go on a killing spree through them. I used to have to escort the staff and clients through the crowd of those self righteous ass holes and averaged about 1 or 2 fights per week with them. DPD was always on my side no matter what happened so it was not too bad.Magnus, I am your father. You need to ask your mother about a man named Calvin Klein.
