  • Question for anyone here...

With all of the threads latley regarding laws, how pissed we are or how wrong this is; who here truly thinks that one day our citizens will revolt in part? Who thinks "the man" is just slowly positioning himself to suspend the constitution? And finally, if there was a revolt, do you think it could be pulled off without one of these damn South American or M.E. countries trying to take advantage?

        Doubtful, we're far too complacent
        Yes
No, at least not physically. Fiscally, yes.

I can see more of a civil war dividing the country then anything else, but I don't see that happening for 5 to 10 years at the earliest, if Obama gets reelected, and keeps going the way he is that is.

20-30 years at the least, IMO. States are going to start pushing harder away from the Federal Government at some point as the citizens decry the Orwellian bullshit that is being passed through. It is easier to fight it at the state level, so we'll see it start there. We're seeing it in Arizona, and with the several states that filed lawsuits about the Healthcare bullshit. People will leave the weaker bankrupt states with high unemployment that depend on the Government assistance, and those states will be the ones that stick behind the country while the stronger states pull away from it. If we could get a halfway bright CIC in office we might not have to worry about it, but I don't have my hopes up. Who knows if that is how it will play out, but it makes sense to me thinking about it.

              100% agree here

Of course it is all speculation at this point but over the past couple of weeks I have just felt a stronger push by the Gov't to play big brother. Don’t know if it is warranted or not but I feel something you know.

Also, the complacency in this country is sad...how did we go from a nation of go getters to a nation of followers? So confused it is frustrating

I say sooner then that if the government doesnt get their shit together. Higher gas prices, higher taxes, and more MF's sitting on their asses sucking the governments tit is all it is going to take.

I think you folks are putting too much stock in people actually standing up and fighting. The few folks who have the spine to do anything about our situation are far out manned by the drones our nanny state has created.

That being said, when someone says something to the idea that Obama or President "insert name here" is going to declare dictatorship are forgetting one thing. The people in the military he has to give the orders to. I whole heartedly believe our normal soldiers in our armed forces would not obey orders to take action on its own people in a war like fashion. At some point, the soldiers will see they are taking away their own rights and disobey orders and revolt against their commanding officers.

In short, I can't see anyone being a dictator in the classic fashion. Americans are dumb, but they are not that dumb.

                  At least, I hope so.

As far as what I think will really be our downfall. It is going to be the lack of resources. We are going to have a shortage of something major either water, food, or even gas. The powder keg is going to go off and chaos will ensue.

When people ask me why I never had kids my standard response is because we are all ready sucking the earth dry and in the future we will run out of resources. They should limit people to two kids.

                      Let's not fool ourselves here...

Most people are too chickeshit to stand up to their bosses, much less the gubment. We will go down like the sheep that we are, with only the rare American that can still call himself "self reliant" having left America or just the urban areas long before.

I love how you are worried about big government but you want them to limit how many kids people can have. Move to China, asshole.
I don't like Republicans, but I really FUCKING hate Democrats.

That has more to do with the earth running out of resources then government power.

Agreed, and I would wager most intelligent, responsible people do not go beyond two to three children. We limited ourselves to two, because having only one deprives that child of the experience of a sibling. In my experience those that have multitudes of children are bottom feeders and bleeders/manipulators of the system, and as such, should be eliminated from the gene pool. mild joke
