I love how they propose these stupid ass ideas but never address the real problem as to why oil prices are well above a level supported by market demand. The oil companies are not to blame for speculators that bid up oil contracts. They do profit from it but they themselves are not allowed to bid up the price.

Additionally, Exxon/Mobile, BP, Shell, and other oil companies that do business in the US are just a drop in the bucket. The Saudi Aramco is huge compared to them.

If Congress really wanted to fix this problem (and they don't) they would force speculators to take delivery of their bids. Also they could force hedge funds to put down more money up front and forbid them from carrying a derivative on their speculative bet. Finally, forbid the sale of WTI on blacked out markets.

              Follow the money:

Top 20 members of Congress getting money from the Oil industry-

Top 20 members of Congress getting money from Securities and Investment-

Total Oil Industry political donations for 2012 election cycle - $9,338,185
Total Securities & Investment political donations for the 2012 election cycle - $24,247,236

The oil industry gives less money and mainly to Republicans. Wall Street gives more than double that and they spread it around. In the House they give more on average to Republicans but they give a lot more to Democrats in the Senate.

Your Congress, bought and paid for.

Because the dems control the senate. There's fewer to pay off in the senate, too. ;-)

So don't punish Iran for anything, like building nukes? See, this is that Ron Paul horseshit right there. You think if we just "do unto others (Ron Paul's word's...LOL!)", that they will just leave all of us alone? It's never worked in our history.
