I am just saying if America's youth is leaning toward a "do it all government", then we are all fucked if they do go out and vote.
You are right about Paul's youth though.

2008 they were not heavily vested in the youth vote, nor did they need to be.
You present yourself as a student of history, so, read this?
It throws out historical numbers on how obsama DID win the youth vote. Second highest number of youth votes ever counted, actually. Per the article the highest number ever counted was in '72, which was the first year that an 18 year old could vote. I wonder, had they had been able to vote in, say, '68, would that still hold true or would the highest ever number be in '68?

Ron Paul has the youth vote. Ron Paul is the the most small-government focused candidate in the race. Ergo, there's a giant contradiction with your statement.

No where did I absolve the older citizens of any of their actions. I only stated there is obviously a movement of socialism of some sort in our youth. At least that is what the media wants us to see.Last edited by mstng86; 01-03-2012, 04:47 PM.

Obama/Biden won because a completely unelectable McCain/Palin ran against them.
Sadly, the Republicans still have not learned their lesson. I don't think it's going to be difficult to paint Ron Paul and Mitt Romney as wackos, Newt Gingrich as just another bitter old white asshole, and Rick Perry as a complete moron. If we're being honest with ourselves, we all know the rest of the candidates don't even matter.
I can't stand Obama, but I don't see any of the Republicans beating him. When the government pays, the government controls.

That's going to be pretty damn hard. I highly doubt he will be re-elected. You have the left, very disappointed in what he has accomplished, or more so what he hasn't accomplished. And you have the right, which is invigorated like never before to get him out of there.
I pray that he is unable to accomplish that!
And I see what you are saying on the vote now. It was purely racist. Sad, but true.
And good point on the 18% Danny. I do hope that you are incorrect on your muse...

I think his presidency has been such a debacle, that most of the candidates running can pull it off.

Originally posted by Vertnut View PostObama bombarded colleges and universities. The youth vote helped him get in. He was "cool and hip" and the college kids fell for it. No sin in that, as I was silly once, too. They are saying the campuses are not nearly as fired up, and some of his "mandates" have hurt students (i.e. the whole student loan thing).
I'm hoping that there is some residual excitement remaining amongst those college kids, though it is a new crop this go round. Sure hope a large number realize how badly they fucked it up the first time around and try to make amends on this one...
