so January 1st everyone remove your FRONT plate only... (carry around this information in your glove box though so when you get pulled over you can prove you are with in your legal rights (cops love smart asses by the way so be 100% legit)... then when they revisit the issue maybe they will see that front plates didn't make much difference anyway.

I'm sure there will be plenty of cops out trying to write tickets for it even though they can't. They tend to do that when they get their feelings hurt.
Anyway, I'm all for having a back plate. But the front needs to disappear and so does the stupid registration sticker and the whole state inspection program along with it. All of those are huge wastes of time and energy.Originally posted by racrguyWhat's your beef with NPR, because their listeners are typically more informed than others?Originally posted by racrguyVoting is a constitutional right, overthrowing the government isn't.

It appears this subject matter is being debated in the other thread on the Back Porch.

here is 03TruBluGT's comment about this in the other thread

There is a catch all statute in the Traffic Code that states penalties for those offenses not specifically listed in statute.
So, while the statute itself does not call for a penalty, it's covered elsewhere in the Code.
I don't have the gumption to look it up now, I'll have to get ahold of a book when I get to work Saturday.

The good thing about having it in the windshield is that it's harder to steal, and very difficult to coutnerfiet. An officer can now watch oncoming traffic and check inspection and registration at the same time. Registration being out is a VERY good indication of having no insurance (since you aren't supposed to get registered w/o insurance), so I like it being in the windshield.
I'll agree that the inspection gets on my nerves at times, but could you imagine the quality of vehicles on the road if there were no inspection???? It's bad enough as it is.
