well, looking at how long americans have allowed it, i'd say the majority of americans don't know. most of the time when some one tries to explain it they thing they are crazy, a commie, or evil. they have just been conditioned through society to accept things as they are, and not to question them.

I know it, but I still have to play the game.

i know. me too. people won't loose faith in the system until it screws people over on a massive scale. today, the global economy is more intertwined than it was in the late 20's. if something like the great depression happened in america this day in age, it would cause the global economy to colapse, not just the american. i just fear that the way things are headed; it's not too far off.

there are several other videos on this link that explain the history and another explaining how it is fraudulent.
Next you will say it should all be based on gold because that is what someone told you. Or that is what Ron Paul said. Fact is, the system we have today exists because the monetary system backed by gold sucked donkey balls.

Why? Because it didn't allow for an unfair, unlimited amount of growth in "wealth?"

Because we print more money, we have more wealth!!!!

No because when times got tough a lot of people simply lost everything. Every recession was a disaster. I'd rather have a little bit of inflation, with the price of a Coke doubling every 20 years than to have the economy destroyed several times in my lifetime.

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

no i don't think it should be based on gold. if you want to know what i really thing you should stop assuming and ask. i think money is obsolete, and the longer we use it; the further division of social classes will occur, and thus the majority of our country will become a class of service workers to cater to the minority of wealthy people. the money system the FED has created is really just a clever form of indentured servitude. i just used the ron paul link because it explains it quite well.

While supporting money introduced to society out of nowhere, only be owed back to the ones creating the inflation. This is how we are getting this massive separation.

Do you honestly think that we would have recessions or depressions in the absence of inflation, debt, living beyond your means, leveraged gambling, etc?

I have no idea, you first would have to find a society that doesn't speculate and then we can answer that question. As far as I know it doesn't exist and has never existed.

Well, money should be backed by some sort of hard asset that is globally recognized. It doesn't just have to be gold, just as long as what is backing it reflects the amount of currency... a direct price to currency ratio with no wiggle. NONE!

Because of currency exchange rates and international trade, you'd constantly be shipping gold all over the world for no reason.

I'm sure there was a time, but since we can't rely on anything historical, the point is moot.
