The general "RonPauler" side of the argument isn't whether Iran should or shouldn't have nuclear weapons. The "RonPauler" position is that the USA is sticking our hands into business that Israel should handle since it is a direct threat to them and there is little doubt Israel is more than capable of deterring or out right squashing Iran if it comes to fisticuffs. The act, if the original story is true, of Israel asking the US for permission seems to embolden the Iranians, and others, because they realize Israel will more than likely be restrained. A more free Israel = pant shitting fear to the region. Let Israel make the statement, they are certainly more than willing and capable to do it. That's the primary "RonPauler" issue.
The secondary issues have more to do with how we "go to war" these days. War with the taliban is tricky and we were warned not to get into the mess we are in today over there. Protecting to no end goat herders who smoke hash and bark at the moon on the far end of the planet risking the lives of our military and trillions of our dollars has no end. Iraq has only been slightly less of a total clusterfuck. And we actually have folks talking about starting something as bad, if not worse, with Iran.
