Anyone who's fired a 40mm knows it travels in an arc. For them to hit him in the head, with the exception of point blank range (which this wasn't) you'd have to arc it at him and it's very difficult to do. I challenge those who think the police did this or did this intentionally, to explain how a 40mm grenade, fired in an arc can purposely hit anyone when you're dealing with a mob

That is one hell of an arc. I'd have to reevaluate its usefulness as a nonlethal crowd control method. Sounds like it pretty much sucks. If it were potentially my life on the line, I'd certainly want something that I had a lot more control over.

Oh, it's great as non lethal. You fire it a distance from you into the middle of a crowd. At least that's the way we were taught to use the Mk 19 and 203. Hitting a point target with it? Forget about it

We'd just call it small arms artillery. You have control over it, but you're not going to aim it like a bullet.
