Just a question I have for you knowledgeable people. I'm always running into people saying that technically, what we have and what we need to have, is a Republic. I understand and agree. So how exactly is that supposed to work? You just have the republic side of things, which has certain laws and stipulations that the democratic side can't touch? Is that how its supposed to work? Cause you have to have some democracy or certain things could just never get done.

Both. We have is a Republican Democracy, which is basically a republic with a representative democracy.
In a republic, the people within a certain nation are sovereign (independent authority). Democracy is when the people have a popular sovereignty (the people are the source of political power). So, with this combination, making a Republican Democracy, we get a Representative democracy. This transfers sovereignty from the people to our elected officials to represent the majority of the people (since the person in office had to win by a majority vote). Since we are a Constitutional Republic, our elected officials have to govern according to constitutional law.
Our leaders are elected, so we are a republic, not a monarchy.
We exercise a democratic process to get our elected officials.

Sounds like you get it, but I think you have this part backwords. The republic part allows things to get done because it allows our elected officials to make laws, ect. If we were a pure democracy (if that even exists) that would mean everybody that cares voting for every single law."A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have."

Quick version:
In a democracy, 51% can vote anything they like and the 49% are slave to them.
In a Republic, you have some things that cannot be taken by the 51% and even when the majority wants something, the minority has a say.
Nowhere in our founding documents is the word democracy. We have a Constitutional Republic and choose our leaders democraticallyI wear a Fez. Fez-es are cool

As a side note, the messicans have been complaining in Dallas because they have %39 of the eligible voters, yet they might only get 3 of 14(?) city council seats. Boo fucking hoo. If they have all those voters, then they only have themselves to blame.

But yeah it seems like all the beaner peasants would never vote democrat if they truly understood what they were voting for. If they truly understood what they left behind, and what they had here and wanted to keep, (as I'm sure some of them do) they'd understand why all this spreading the wealth is just suicide.Last edited by SMEGMA STENCH; 10-21-2011, 08:36 PM.

How do we forget our minds?
