  • What is wrong with Obamacare?

I was on the backend of a 32 hr shift and didnt have my facts straight but a co worker starting gping off on how obamacare was good for ameica and kept saying how it helps those with pre existing conditions and those without coverage.

So what are the facts that show we shouldnt have obamacare?

Not much other than forcing citizen to buy/pay for something and then having the government choose who lives and dies. No big deal, I'm sure they won't abuse their power and it will work out great just like the post office and the IRS.

You mean other than the unconstitutional centralization of our health care system, running at least 2.5 trillion dollars and if you don't buy in, they send the IRS to collect? The fact the IRS right after the legislation passed went and bought new Mossberg shotguns? Or the fact that the federal government centralizes your health records which means hackers can get it easier? Or perhaps that in direct relation to the bill Boeing and Cat laid off workers and health care costs have skyrocketed since it's been enacted ABOVE the projected curve?

NOt to mention it fails to plan for the loss of health care providers who will no longer be able to earn wealth for their skills

The pre-existing coverage thing is BAD

If you have had credible insurance coverage and switch to another company...they pick up coverage on any pre-existing conditions.

Obamacare will allow people to NOT have insurance by paying the penalties (if they pay them) and then jump on healthcare coverage when they need it. An insurance company cannot be profitable in these situations.

Look at the complete failure called Romneycare. The major companies that provided insurance there had to try and go non-profit and yet still said they will stop selling because they were losing money. The courts of Mass. forced companies like BCBS to sell insurance to people. Its a giant clusterfuck

The so called "death panels" are not near as bad as Palin claims them to be but it has the concept of that. This law forces doctors to talk to patients about end of life care and when to start stopping care saying they have lived long enough.

Anything the government gets involved in is messed up

There is no legal way for them to force you to buy something. This isnt a socialist country.

This will force companies to let people go to try and stay profitable. Hundreds of companies have filed for waivers showing they will go belly up. It just so happens the companies in the back pockets of politicians are getting these waivers. Obama had meetings with CEO's of large companies like Boeing and they told him they cannot afford to do Obamacare...he didnt care.

            We cant afford it

Doctors will make less money and just stop practicing. Medicare/Medicaid doesnt pay shit anyways...lots of private practice doctors wont take them. Wait until everyone has shitty reimbursements like that and see who stick around

Canadas healthcare system is shit...that is what will happen to us.

Oh..and did you get the memo that its going to take a couple years of collecting to pay for it before we can even use it? See any problems there? How can it be sustained if we cant even pay for it now?

It raised our costs by about $8mm this year, and we only have about 5000 employees in the states.

It is all very simple. Ask them to explain how adding 30 million people to insurance pools won't raise costs through the roof?

The only way I can think of is magic.

                      This.

Because insurance companies see Obamacare on the horizon, they are preparing for it now. In September of last year my wife lost her job. She had medical insurance through her employer that covered all of us in the family. We had a choice when it expired. Pay Cobra $1300 a month for insurance, find our own insurance policy, or do without. So we started shopping around. Due to a couple of MINOR health problems that didn't require doctor's visits to monitor, we got denied coverage TWICE! We finally found a provider and are now paying $930 a month for coverage that has a $2500 deductible PER PERSON! There are only 4 people in my household.

This same plan I was told, pre Obamacare, would have run $650 a month with a $1k deductible per person. All it has done so far is hurt people by getting denied coverage, denied needed procedures, and more money out of pocket.

The US has ALWAYS had free heallthcare. It's called go to the ER. They used to not turn people away even if you couldn't pay.
Annoying people, one post at a time!

This will single handedly ruin health care. People in industry already hated goverment healthcare because of the reimbursement was terrible and took forever. Anything government run usually can't make money worth shit. Look at usps.

Meaningful Use was actually instigated by the Medicare Improvement for Patients and Providers Act of 2008, which was passed by the House and Senate, vetoed by Bush, and over ridden and made into law during Bush's presidency. Not that I'm sticking up for Obama, because he mirrored the verbage in his healthcare bill, but it started before Obamacare.

I'm actually a fan of electronic medical records and electronic prescribing. :wink1:

Off topic, but what about the 30 states taking it to the supreme court? When do we get to hear a ruling on that? If the supreme court rules against it, maybe we can throw out Okenyancare?
