I don't have a problem with the federal govnernment enforcing federal law.

I mean... the shit is illegal, right? So enforce the laws if they're there.

But let's not pick and choose. Let's tighten up the borders and evict illegals since we've decided to start cracking down on federal lawbreakers.

I do have a problem with marijuana being illegal in the first place, but there is a time and place to fight that fight. I like that they're doing this. I think it's time to take this issue up a notch and this will escalate it. Bring it on. I think the time is ripe to legalize this crap and we can move on to actual important topics.

No, it's not illegal as the federal government has no power to make it illegal. Can they use police to try to force their illegal ideals on you? Of course. The government has a monopoly on force.

Well hell, that is one of the only things California is doing that I agree with.

So, you want the government to regulate all substances that affect the human body or are you just picking and choosing based on your preferences?

Again...some people fuck it up for everyone. You think that PCP and cocaine should be legal? It is the same argument. You favor individual liberties that allow people to make their own decisions. I believe that there are lots of people in this country that will not do the drugs responsibly and can hurt others. This is why drugs are illegal.

I think anybody who lumps marijuana in with all drugs (on EITHER side of the argument) is doing it wrong

Frost I think you are hitting the nail on the head with just about every post in this thread.

I admit I probably would use a little pot every now and then if it were legal, but It isn't something I would fight to have legalized, because I don't want it that bad and I don't need it to be happy. Its about on par with alcohol for me.

I will, however, fight to say that the federal government has no constitutional authority to regulate it. Yes they regulate tons of things they shouldn't already, this is not really any different.

So you're saying a state can't regulate these drugs if they feel a need to? Tell me 8mpg, where do you find in the 18 enumerated powers, the power of the federal government to regulate any drug of any kind? I've got the 10th amendment that says if it's not enumerated to the federal government then it belongs to the state, what do you have?

Oh and a tidbit, most 'drugs' aren't illegal because of the harm they do. They're illegal because an undesirable segment of society was using it and those in power decided that they wanted more control over that segment of society so they made it a crime. I point to you opium which the Chinese laborers used quite a bit and no one had a problem with until after the railroad was done and then there was no more use for them. So you make their actions illegal so you can fuck with them.
