ESPN doesn't like Hank's viewpoint so they fire him; I don't like ESPN's viewpoint so I'm not watching.

Pro football is a total cesspool anyway. Who gives a shit about a bunch of overpaid druggies playing a game. Now if you had them play in only gym shorts and no pads or helmets that would be good. Let them shoot up, snort what they want and get after it. Then, pay them only if they win. Maybe even like a rodeo rider......everybody pays an entry fee. Winners get their entry back, and then the prize money. Losers go home.

I still hold true to believing that celebrities should not use their status to push political agendas/opinions. i.e. Dixie Chicks, Tool...etc
The things I enjoy in this case...
1. I agree with him.
2. Even though in this case he is losing money of it, it is not affecting him.
3. He is providing follow through and not being a wuss about it.
In all other cases that I'm aware of, when I disagreed with a celebrity the celebrity never got any backlash from it. Maybe sales loss and such from CONSUMERs that think like I do.
However, why is it when I agree with a celebrity - they get fired over their belief? I'm making a jump to conclusion thing here, that what he is saying is more truthful and it's what every other person is afraid to say. It may hurt some people's feelings. When it upsets the majority...oh well.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.

If this view were an absolute, no one could voice an opinion other than polliticians and those employed as commentators. I'm relatively certain that isn't the idea our nation was built upon. Just as I can voice my opinion on the stupidity of a network firing a performer over a comment regarding politics, and my support of right to fire laws.
I'm gonna shut up and go work on some equipment now.

Bocephus' response:
"After reading hundreds of e-mails, I have made MY decision," Williams said in a statement to The Associated Press. "By pulling my opening Oct 3rd, You (ESPN) stepped on the Toes of The First Amendment Freedom of Speech, so therefore Me, My Song, and All My Rowdy Friends are OUT OF HERE. It's been a great run."

Your thinking though is that there probably was not a contract clause or something to prohibit him from saying what he did or otherwise wants to say?
Hard to say. I know those contracts can be quite strict, even basic employee handbook stuff can be insane. However, in this case I'm sure other sides had lawyers going to town red lining everything. Hard to know, but I'm guessing ESPN is able to release him for one reason or another when they want to.
Also, reading it more - it's not like he's on the campaign trail like some of these damned celebrities. He just said a statement - after understanding that a little better, I don't see what the big deal is on it.
For all we know, ESPN was looking for an easy way to get rid of him and this was it.Originally posted by MR EDDU defend him who use's racial slurs like hes drinking water.
