  • Another Nuke Incident

When they work they are great but when things go wrong you have a big problem.

Curious on the details. Hope it isn't anything too major, aside from the loss of life.
How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

That's certainly not going to help their energy "crisis". A LARGE portion of their energy is supplied through nuclear production and there has been a growing debate in the country of whether or not to scale it back. I'd love to have the cheap electricity costs that they do.

Starting to look like burning coal is a lot safer than nuke lol. I just wish the cost of solar panels was actually reasonable. Instead of 15 grand to generate 3000 watts for ten years. After that, the elements have destroyed the panels and they need to be replaced. Will they ever become cheap?

solar panels have a long way to go to compete with a nuke. where i live we get all our power from an NG plant

Yeah, just be nice if each home could produce even 50% of their own electricity at an affordable price with solar or wind.

Individual solar power production is shit because the technology isn't that efficient. "Clean" energy requires massive tracts of land to achieve decent levels of production and even then with all the land dedicated to solar energy, solar thermal energy, and wind power, it still doesn't even come close to making a dent in our overall electricity consumption. If those dipshits in DC continue to outlaw coal, they'll have to go to nuclear energy or natural gas. They're the only two can come close to replacing the amount of energy we get from coal that's all there is it to it. Renewable energy is cool and all for places like N Dakota with a population smaller than a large metropolitan area but that shit is useless in DFW, LA, etc.

Don't we have shit tons of natural gas here? And it burns clean.

right now the powers at hand are in the oil business and want to milk that till it's dry. then solar will become cheaper. you can build your own panels cheap but it is tedious.

there is no profit in efficient energy, well not as much as oil and coal.

my friends dad just created the worlds most efficient generator. they had it tested at cal poly. it is about 80lbs and can run a whole neighborhood or hospital and it takes 50 ft/lbs to turn. they put it in a car and used an diesel motor to turn the generator which in turn powered an electric motor and they were getting over 200mpg. this was a year ago. why hasn't some one invested in it? because they know that they will have to deal with the oil companies.

they live in cali and now "the union" is having him develop a low cost lighting system with his generator to grow MJ lol.

Solar, especially on a private level, is purposely expensive and inefficient for the long-term.

It's all about the fucking lobbies in DC. Options suck on purpose.

This I can agree with - even not having any proof. I believe there are many things that could be cheaper for us sheep if the politicians were not getting their pockets lined.
