    I don't think we'll ever see state secession again. If it comes down to it, I suppose it is much more likely that the States would circumvent federal level checks and balances and seek to amend the constitution in ways that would explicitly limit federal authority.

    As divided as the nation is politically, it seems that there are many states pushing back against federal encroachment specifically. I don't know if there are at least 33 willing to convene on the matter, but it would be a really interesting development if they did.

      Most people don't realize that according to the Constitution, there is a way to circumvent the Congress on amending the Constitution. It's never been done before, but an Article 5 Convention would do exactly that
