  • For all of those who support a flat tax....

What do you think about Herman Cain's 9-9-9 plan?

    Page 3-4

    9% business tax
    9% individual tax
9% sales tax ( This is the beginning of the "fair tax" which will utlimately get rid of business and individual taxes and end IRS).

I have seen a lot of people post on here how they are either for a flat tax or for a tax only when you buy stuff... well now we have a candidate with a paln for that.

And then you factor a state sales tax on top of that, but it's a start

He seemed to be the only who would answer questions last night without diverting the topic. The guy would be good for America. I want to barf everytime Romney and Perry smile and open up their mouths.

Ron Paul has some good ideas but he can not communicate well enough to get enough people to vote for him.

It's a great plan and I would support it 100%. I just hope he realizes that that kind of plan will require a drastic change in the role of the federal government which I'm also fine with. The "cradle to grave" entitlement system has to be drawn down and that's the only way these huge tax changes will stick.

He mentioned drastic changes last night in the effect of "starting over" on a lot of our problems.

Without huge cuts in spending, I do not see where he is planning on getting the revenue. Considering you do not spend your entire income on items that would have a VAT, he is promoting an effective tax rate of maybe 15% if all your income was earned income. Payroll taxes today are 15.3% alone.

Without seeing hard numbers I would have my doubts. I do think we will have a federal VAT in the near future.

Meeh it's a great idea, but there are too many loop holes. I'd say let's do away with a lot of the tax breaks.

fine...but how is SS funded...oh, you still pay that 7.5% and then the 8% sales tax...so your 30,000 mustang just became 34,650 instead of 31950.

Make it the 5-5-5 plan and we might be able to talk, but there would have to be TONS of exceptions like home purchases and so forth. Merely getting the 47% of assholes that don't pay taxes now to finally pay would more than float the budget issues we have now after large scale cuts in BS plans like welfare and healthcare.

I'm 37 and I'd gladly give up what I have in SS to not have to pay another dime into it, for the rest of my life. Give the rest of it to everyone above 40, 45, 50. Whatever is deemed a fair cutoff point. I'm all for a flat tax to get this country back where it needs to be.
